Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Hmmm well that ended just about as i expected :p

The one thing i will say is i don't usually jump in like that so much, dunno what got into me. Ggs Kreeeee, i learnt a lot, shame you probably don't feel the same way :p. I know i spam throw too much etc, i mostly do it to try to tech incoming throws, i also know i use them to punish too much but i'm so poor at combos atm i like the fact throw does acceptable damage with little risk of cocking it up. I'll get away from the lame tactics one day hopefully.

I was better than this back in the days of SFIV, i was able to FADC into ultras and everything, dunno what i lost but i can't seem to get it back :(

gg's.

I need to learn how to block your 3 hit thing and punish your roll before I even attempt playing you again. It's quite frustrating to be hit by something and not know how to even block it.

Abel has amazing normals, you got a lot of counter hits in there and DeeJays AA's don't seem to be working very well against Abel. I can certainly see why he's in the top 5 characters.

Was the timing weird for you? My vortex never worked as I could never seem to combo the cmk after the clp's, and I never normally miss that.

Aye i did deliberately stop midstring a few times as i felt guilty that you clearly didn't know how to defend against it. I usually use the CoD combo more often but i knew spamming it against you would just lead to a cheap win or two.

To block it you just need to block high for the last two attacks, the first can be blocked either crouched or standing.

His roll can be thrown, however i try to use EX-roll when i'm close which has throw immunity, it's not an easy move to punish tbh.

[EDIT] And yes the timing was a bit strange, i tried to FADC twice and it didn't even come out right, not because it wasn't timed correctly on my part, the move just didn't 'work'. Also my new Cr.hp -> roll -> hp reset didn't seem to work at all either. Not sure whether the latter was due to me getting it wrong or online lag though.

When something is working, abuse it.

I couldn't learn how to beat it as you stopped using it :P

Fair point :p

[EDIT] Oh and the CoD combo used to be mega punishable, but they made the gap for punishing between the first and second hit much smaller in SSFIV, so ignore people that say it's an easy attack to deal with. It used to be in SF but in SSF it's really decent. I love the new Abel, i just wish i could use him as well as i used to :)

Hopefully once you've read up about fighting Abel a bit more we can have a few matches. While incredibly one-sided i did enjoy myself as i knew i was being outclassed as opposed to being out DP'd.

[EDIT2] And OMG @ DJs fireball not being punishable fullscreen with Abels ultra, against every other character i can ultra through fireballs fullscreen. When i timed that ultra perfectly and missed it was a FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU moment.

I used the slow FB on purpose when you have Ultra so it hits you :)

Edit: I need to play more as your Guy was the first I played too, although I don't think he's very good.

It's good fun playing you, it's very different fighting a character that moves so fast and doesn't need to jump to approach.

It wasn't very one-sided! You won loads of rounds, a few games and went to the wire on over half of our games!

gg ojste, got to tidy up the place as a friend is coming over at 4.

Looks like you eventually figured out that a run away akuma is a 7-3 match up for low tier DeeJay :(

There is no safe jump against DeeJay, especially with dive kick.

As Juri all your pokes counter DeeJays pokes so improve your footsies and it should be an easy win.

ah i see, i havent actually practiced safe jump timing in general so i wouldnt have noticed.

i prefer akumas offensive game than his keepout though (as i do with all chars) and i tend to practice that side more in casuals.

im gonna stick with juri/akuma i think, both are really fun... juri however is a pain at the moment, i need to get used to holding fireballs and actually using them :o

Nice just found me a pretty beefy punisher as Guile.

df+roundhouse > flash kick does around 270 ish by itself, if you do it with a focus attack (level 3) and ex flash kick you get around 380.

Didn't know about charge storing (if that is the right word?), was wondering how people were managing to do a down forward motion and a flash kick immediately after... I feel dumb now. Figured out how to do it by myself though. :p

I could be wrong but this seems like the best punish Guile can do without using ultra or super

Ehh? Am i missing something? It's just holding down-forward + HK, then up + Kick right? Don't you use a bit of balrog? It's just like headbutt into ultra, but with x and y switched around.

If you want a little bit more stun, you can do double df + HK followed by EX FK.

You can't charge when doing down forward though?

I tried doing df+roundhouse and then immediately charging to do a flash kick but that didn't work, the way I have to do it is charge db then do df but immediately switch to db again, this lets me do a flash kick in time.

With headbutt into ultra you are always holding back, to do this with Guile you have to use a forward motion for the juggle kick to come out...unless I am also missing something

How did you play balrog without storing charge?

I didn't know it was possible to do store a charge when doing a down forward motion, thought the forward would cancel the charge out

I think you might have confused it with the fact that you can't use down-forward as the end motion for a 'charge back then forward' special move.
So you can't* hold down-back, then down-forward + P for a sonic boom, and do a FK right after. But you can the other way around (but bad example since FK recovery is god-awful lol).
You can just hold down-forward, press HK, then FK without going to down-back or down.

Well with your combo, you're always holding down. That's what i meant by the same, but with x and y (axis) switched around.
