Anyone Tried The Leaked Nvidia 256 Drivers

Same benchmarks as the other thread. Dunno people using the pre-release version were claiming 15-20% performance increases with many recent titles on the 4x0 cards which isn't really indicated in thoses tests.

found this pic and seems they do have early 3D vision surround support

They pushed back 3dvision surround to June(or was it July) which more than anything just indicates the driver is expected to be released in June finally, seeing as these are just beta's.

I woudn't be surprised if its in there, but I'd be surprised by anyone that uses it. 3 screens = way lower FPS, 3d = way lower fps 3d + 3 screens = slide show style fps, is it really worth it?

Unless you've spent £1600-2000 on quad 480gtx sli it would seem, pick 3d, or surround, pick both and you'll probably just get painfully bad performance.

I haven't used them in a long time, and not for surround, will the 3d glasses not have problems with peripheral vision, both from, the fact that peripheral vision sucks on normal glasses(because of the gap you can see out the sides with no focus) and because they are basically two tiny lcd screens aren't they, are their directional issues with viewing through the 3d glasses?

Their are two releases planned, May the 24th for the first 256 driver, then a second in June for the 3D thingy, unless it has changed from the other day.

Driver, sans 3D Vision surround, is still "supposed" to be out the 24th.

A single GTX470 is fine for 3D Vision on a single display, but to get decent FPS on a 3 screen setup your looking at GTX480 SLI, possibly tri-SLI. Personally I don't think it will have great results tho - IMO for the best 3D Vision experience you need one large display... i.e. projector.

In most games yes a 470 will be fine, however I've had to turn down some settings for the latest games to get framerates above 30, Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033 being the stand out ones.

This is running at 1080p on my new Acer though, they obviously ran better @ 1680x1050 on my old Samsung 2233RZ.

Granted my GTX260 SLI setup is a tad faster than a GTX470 but I'm yet to run into any game that doesn't give decent framerates at max settings with the 2233rz/3D Vision combo. Prolly a bit more of a stretch at 1920x tho.

To be honest tho I don't even really need the SLI at that res, I got it when I was running a 2048x panel for gaming but now I'm too used to 120Hz to go back :D

No don't get me wrong Rroff, most games run beautifully in 3D @ 1080p with my single 480, but the two games I mentioned give it a really good workout!

Having said that, I'm trying my hardest to resist buying another one, would be a nice big performance boost :D

I think you're going to need 480 SLi as a minimum requirement for three screens running 3D if you're after acceptable framerates, preferably Tri SLi under water.
