Had this a few weeks now but only just got round to giving it a good polish!
Decided to treat myself to a more interesting car than the focus, although we're keeping that as the family car, so this won't do a lot of miles, as most of my spare time is on the motorbike or my Trek, but the mrs wont go on the bike so this is a bit of a compromise.
Anyway, spent about a month looking for a nice 3.2S for £10k, but as mentioned on the other Boxster thread I gave up trying to find a really good (and as its from savings i wasn't prepared to chuck any more money into one as I'm well aware you need to budget £1k - £2k a year running costs) so test drove a 2.7 - I struggled to tell the difference. Both feel really fast compared to the Focus 1.6 and really slow compared to my bike! Found a perfect example and I'm really really happy with it. Its a 2001, a little light on options but has a decent sound system, climate control, electric seats and more importantly a £2k optional extra Porsche sports exhaust which sounds fantastic. 1 owner, 44k miles, just had rear window replaced and the major 48k mile service, new brake discs all round and continental tyres. Basically just well looked after.
Had a few decent drives in it and I love it - the power is decent but the handling is just sublime and the engine note really adds to it - it might have less power that the 3.2 but it certainly sounds faster!
And yes, I'm aware of the image, but as my other hobbies involve me dressing up in leathers one week and lycra the next, I'd never leave the house if I worried about that!
