He's all good though...I thought it seemed odd that he carried so much speed out of the gravel - but he said he had his toe in the radiator to stop the car digging in hoping to pull it out of the spin.

I figured it as he was accelerating hard i.e. foot to the floor i.e. toes touching the radiator

I could also be wrong!

Foot to the floor would be the more common expression.

Probably a rusty floor in an old Golf like that. Probably nailed the brakes and broke through the crusty panel and ended up with his foot next to the radiator

When you loose the back of a FWD the accepted best way to save it is to nail it.

Loosing the rear the other way on recovery and then nailing the barrier instead inst usually recommended though.. :0

Glad hes ok. Did well to get it out the gravel. Got some balls.
