Hi,
been training last 6 months for the above marathon but how do I run in this heat? It's never been this hot in training. Anyhow wish me luck for little 26 mile run this Sunday

Had a run this afternoon in the midday sun .... good luck!

Wear shades, a hat, cream up and don't go mental with the water.

Have a good one :)

Nothing wrong with plenty of fluids as long as you're replacing the electrolytes too.

I'd probably drink 5 or 6 'gobfulls' of water during a marathon, along with any fluid gained from 4 gels - some electrolyte content. During a half, nothing. 12 miles this afternoon without fluids, tomorow I'll take a 750ml bottle on a 16 miler and will take a sip every mile or so and return with more than half of it no doubt. That said I do know I can manage my fluids very well.

Each to their own, but if you start hydrated on a typical UK diet , there aint to much to worry about imo if you take on fluids sensibly before and during.

Edited to remove arsey sounding bits and add a bit more sense, I blame the beer! :p

Mate, first 13 miles did under 1:49 then hit the wall at 17 miles( never hit the wall before in training ran loads of 20 mile runs? ) had to slow down and get more gels into me. Any how finshed in 4:12 which I am really happy with.
The weather was a killer loads of runners / elite runners started to walk somebody said it reached 28/29 today. Don't think you need to prepare more it was just to hot.

I was fine until about half way then it just went all wrong. I seen a guy collapse to the side of the road and another guy lying in a recovery possition - the heat really got some folk.

Your username is my favourite song btw :D

Seriously well done to those of you who did this. I was just about collapsing from simply waking along Princes St in that heat yesterday! May have been a world class level of hungover but still, I couldn't have ever managed a marathon.
