Following years of neglect our patio is completely overgrown and I cant see how I'm going to clear it.

Its basically made of criss-crossed bricks so there is now heavy moss, thick grass etc growing between them.

I have used the lawn mower to trim it down but dont know how to get rid of the rest - dont fancy digging it all out with a trowel. :(

We dont have any access to a water tap round the back so jet washing it wont be possible.

I think I tried weed killer before but it made no difference.

Any suggestions? :D

I would just use a trowel or small spade personally to scrap all the crap out and then put the weed killer down there.

Glysophate, use twice as much as it says, but make sure it doesn't rain 24-48 hours after you spray it. Come back in a week and scrape the dead weeds away.

The use of glyphosate is correct, but only use the correct dosage. It will not work well in this weather, though as the little holes in the leaves close up in hot, dry weather. Plus the plant being sprayed need to be growing in order to have good leaf coverage. It would be best to wait until ther is a spell of cooler damper weather and then spray or just administer with a watering can. The plants may take a couple of weeks to die, though so you will have to be patient.

You can hire or buy weed burners that sort of look like a walking stick a gas cannister attached to it. These are really good fun to use and are very effective whilst not adding chemicals to the soil.

Hmmmm liking that sound of that - whe do you get them from?

Only echoing other people - you should be fine with some heavier duty pathclear stuff. I work at a garden centre and theres loads of choice. Then if it REALLY doesn't budge, they sell special path scrapers/clearer's.
