What does house insureance cover?

My water tank went pop and leaked water ALL over the house.. just to happened to pour about 9L into my server's PSU fans hole and that went bang.

The whole server is gone.... all parts dead apart from HDD's so i saved the data.

Does my House insureance cover :

Re plastering of whole house... (water came out plug and light sockets + plaster now ruined)
Re decorating
and a new server?

I have direct line home insureance...
 
It's also a matter that can probably wait a few hours and probably the best advice you'll get. Go have a **** or something to pass the time.
 
I started working for a home insurance company a couple of months ago, it amazes me just how many people don't read their documents and therefore don't know what they're actually paying for...
 
sometimes the agent doesnt even know whats covered. i proposed to my other half on friday and wanted to make sure the engagment ring was covered. when i asked if i could get damage to it covered she told me i had to contact the insurer.

wierd thing is. on my policy document, i have no contact details for my insurer as it says to use the agent.
 
Generally speaking if you've got standard contents and buildings cover then the damage caused by the water will be covered (but you can often expect a higher excess) but the actual tank itself won't be.
