why is f.t.w starred out ?

yes but if it is blanked out then someone could assume a different word and it could translate a different meaning altogether.

if the actual word isnt offensive then surely its a bit of a fail :)

The admins are trying to preserve a minimum standard of English.

Perhaps it's just a business decision. The more language is simplified and dumbed down, the less people are able to think. So maybe the admins are trying to ensure that there will continue to be a market for hardware in the future.

but if the term is mainly used by technical nabs on pcs that idea is floored. im not being clever by the way its just every idea i see for starring it out there is a reason for not starring it out.

the term is used by losers, not technical nabs on the pc, imo.

t e h is also stared out to stop people being stupid with it and using that when the will do.

edit: turns out teh is no longer as i guess it's no longer cool and people don't use it any more

.

While there is no specific rule in regard to this I think there is a desire to try and uphold standards around here.

Also it helps is old gits that do not understand this sort of thing :p

I used to type teh all the time... Purely because I kept hitting the wrong button at the wrong time, and just give in trying to fix it every time. :p

Also, I don't think f.t.w needs to be starred out - But lets face it, it's not like it hurts people typing everything out properly.
