My bedroom gets insanely hot! What can I do?

The heat's horrible, the room I'm in now is apparently 34 degrees c, and I'm sitting right next to a fan.

Luckily the room I sleep in is a lot cooler, and I of course sleep with my fan on. :p

i've just put a Hot Water bottle in the deep freeze. hopefully it'll be frozen solid by the time i go to bed.

You want it cold - not frozen. Besides the possibility of damaging the bottle there's also freezer burn (unless of course you wrap it in something - which defeats the point a little).

Watercooled probably means overclocked, which in turn means more heat to dissipate - and it all has to go somewhere. Of course, turning the PC off results in 0W either way. Every little helps!

He made it sound like it would help cool his room, my Pc is water cooled (well, the CPU). :p

I however, am air cooled:

That's awesome :D

I swapped out some hardware in my server last night in the attic. I would have preferred doing it downstairs, but no one was around to help me carry the big bloody thing out the attic.

31C in there even an hour after I shutdown the server and had a fan blasting colder air from the hallway. Nearly died of heat stroke by the time I was done! :p

haha, I like that. I knew this 140mm aerocool fan would come in for something :D.

A/C is the only solution. I have resorted to it atleast... (Or, will do when it comes to my days off.)

With the computer and TV etc switched off, with 2 big fans going, I still have had a constant 32+ until around 1am for the last 2 days.

It's hell, I'm working all day the sun is out, but get to come home to a very, very hot room so I get none of the good stuff and all the crap stuff. :(

<leans back in chair and switches on air con with remote>

Seriously dude you need a decent portable air conditioner, if your room is only small a 1200btu air conditioner should do a very good job @ bringing the temp down, I only have a 9000btu air con in my large room and even that really helps, they are noisy and can be expensive to run but they are a God send once you get used to them, I couldn't live without air con ever again now, I'm thinking about upgrading to this which is a bargain tbh,

I've heard good things about that system but it's a bit on the large size though.

It's 0400, I've had a window open and a 12 inch fan on full for the last 8 hours and it's still 28C in here.

18C downstairs, 28C upstairs with window and fan. Maybe I'll sleep downstairs.

Just buy an air conditioning unit seriously, £200 for one that's suitable for a bedroom and at 49db they aren't too loud either.

How hot is it in your room? It hit 38 in here the other day, and didn't go below 30 till 12 -1 in the morning.

Sounds daft but my bedroom is usually roasting the minute the sun comes out. It's a south facing room and the roof overhangs the windows quite a bit.

Last autumn I got up in the loft and fitted the correct level of insulation up there. Aside from the benefit in the winter of keeping the house warmer, it's really noticeably cooler now in the sun! :)

Get about 60m of hosing. Go to the nearest bathroom/kitchen and stick one end of the hose into the cold tap. Shove the other end down the plughole and coil the rest of the hose around your bedroom.

Turn the tap on et voilà, water cooling for your room.

put the heating on for 3 hours, untill the room is so how you feel you are going to die... then turn it off and open the window... your room will be no cooler than when you started, however after a while it will feel as if its cooler...
