why is f.t.w starred out ?

Surely 'WT*' should be banned if swearies have to be fully starred out, as the F is the first letter of the word ****.

If it's starred out, there's no way of possibly knowing what that word could say ;).

It could mean 'what the fudge', someone who wants to know what fudge is.

You could apply that to any partly starred out sweary then you fooding cats. ;)

So the Dons lose patience and just ban it before people start chewing their keyboards with frustration at seeing the same old jokes all the time.

I seem to remember it completely back firing with Smash the pasty as it was banned & unbanned. Banning it just set it in stone where as ignoring it would have had it fall of the radar, Lesson learned I reckon. ;)

Personally I think Grammar & spelling is just thrown in the mix by people who haven't got a better argument to come back with, It's a cheap shot.
Take me for instance, My father cannot read or write at all !
Now I can but not perfect but I do try, My own daughter is about to start a Law degree later in the year.
I think my family has progressed enough & I don't appreciate people pointing out tiny errors when they haven't anything else to come back with.

Quite a few unnecessary capital letters there Malc.

:p

People say teh because they type too fast (some say close to the speed of light). I do it all teh time but thankfully I spot it early or Firefox red lines it and it's easily visible.

We can't help it we're typing speedsters!

I have wondered why f.t.w. is starred out on OcUK. I'm not overly keen on "f.t.w." and to be honest, I've only really seen it used extensively on World of Warcraft, nowhere else. Should it be allowed on here? Again, I see is exclusive to Warcraft, not regarded as being bulletin board-speak. It's not text speak though. It's more of an acronym, like L.O.L.
