Inspired by the other poster and his new yellow S3, I thought I really should post mine as I've had it about 6 weeks now...

It's a 2002 Silver Audi S3, It's reasonably fast, pretty comfortable, pretty economical and I'm very pleased with it. Was very sad to see the Celica go but it was getting a little bit tatty :(

Anyway, I got a few coppers back from 8K and only have an iPhone to take pictures with! No interior pictures but it's the standard black leather Recaros (not heated alas). Plans are to retrofit cruise control and REVO it up, the cambelt has been done and it came with a full Audi service history.

Another one :) I've just bought one myself

Silver suits them very well any plans for it?

Very nice, two mates have had S3's one post and one pre, I had an A4 1.8TQS and loved it but we all sold for the same reason, too expensive to run. Cant beat that Quattro grip though!

I am sure it is a fantastic car but there is no way I would pay £8000 for an 8 year old car, Sports Audi or not.

So rather than the top of the range model semi-4wd hot hatch you would rather buy a newer, 5 door, slower fwd hatchback ?

In your thinking i could then say theres no way i would pay £8k for the one you have listed when i could buy an 09 fiat panda for that price :p

The Focus ST isn't slower at all. I've not checked the figures but I'd be suprised if it wasn't actually a bit quicker once you discount the off the line advantage the Haldex system gives.

They are also similar spec in terms of toys.

Comparing the values to a new focus is not something i would expect of a car enthusiast forum.

Plenty of people here buy old yet still fairly expensive cars, i just sold a 10 year old one for £18,000 for example. The buyer could have bought a brand new focus for that, silly him.

OP; nice car. Pics 2 and 3 are surprisingly good given the iphones rather below par camera.

Welcome to the club :) Ignore the common VAG hatred from the OcUK forums. Seems like a tidy example mate. If you need any advice on future modifications give us a shout. I've spent far too long looking at mods!

I'm not even going to step into the S3 versus ST argument as it's been done to death. People are always going to have preferences on cars. As long as you're happy with your purchase then who gives a stuff? :)

I did look at the Focus ST, along with the Leon Cupra R and other hot hatches (I wanted a hatch as my gf has a dog so a saloon or coupe was out), my requirements were something that wasn't sewing machine powered, was comfortable on the motorway, reasonably economical and not completely devoid of handling and 3 doors. If you look back at my previous threads you will notice one about FWD and in the end, I decided I didn't want to return to a FWD car so it did kinda limit my choices.

Sure, I know the S3 is FWD most of the time, but the fact is I do have the ability to send power to the back wheels so I'm happy with that.

I will admit the focus probably looks better and looks a bit more special, but to be fair I wanted to blend in a little more than I did with my celica. Another reason to discount the focus is my mum had a 57 plate diesel one for a couple of years and I know the ST is different but I really could not get on with the cheaper feeling focus interior - the Audi is streets ahead of it :p.

Very nice mate. We'll have to organise a Brighton meet at some point, especially as the weather is picking up.

EDIT: Were those pics taken up the Dyke? (No sniggering at the back).

I don't know enough about these cars to comment on Value but I did like my mates one when he had it.
Looks a good example to me although I don't like silver cars for an unknown reason. :p
You're happy though so I'm happy.
Enjoy.

Nope! Can't you see Falmer Stadium on the 2nd picture?! It's on Falmer Road.

I must admit, I'm not *totally* won over to silver - I've always had black cars but It's growing on me, it's certainly not as satisfying to polish up but when you clean it it lasts for more than 10 minutes.

My dislike is purely childish ignorance, I am like Why buy a car without any colour on it ? + :p + :o
I also Love Black cars but after owning one for 12 months I'll never own one again, for starters it had No air con & secondly cleaning it was a pain as it only stayed clean when you was actually cleaning it. :(
