Israel offered to sell nuclear weapons to South Africa back in the 1970s (The Guardian & The Guardian).

It is a little rich for Israel to complain that Iran might allow nuclear weapons to fall into the hands of terrorists when they seemed quite willing to supply nuclear weapons to South Africa in the past; incidentally Israel was VERY supportive of the racist Apartheid South African regime

Not sure what your point is. South Africa wasn't supporting terrorism at the time (and still isn't).

I also seem to recall that Thatcher was supportive of the racist apartheid South African regime.

So what, South Africa wasn’t being run by a mad set of nutters who want to terrorise and destroy their opponents.

More iffy fail. ;)

I don't think we should hold up the Iron Lady as a model of tolerance and goodwill to all men somehow, she was also good friends with General Pinochet (amongst others no doubt) if memory serves me so the company she keeps or kept is dubious to say the least.

In reference to the original post, while the apartheid era regime was reprehensible (and that's an understatement) I'm not sure you can classify it as terrorism or draw parallels to Iran and Israel.

And what are we going to do about it? America would gladly turn a blind eye to Israel, and they expect lil' Britain to follow suit.

Stupid original post. Comparing South Africa to Iran. While apartheid was disgusting (for the lack of a better descriptive word), SA hardly threatened war or was run by warmongering lunatics.

The very fact that South Africa didn't use them, let them fall into Terrorist hands and is the only country in the world to voluntarily dismantled it's nuclear weapons proves that this is a complete fail of a thread.

And why exactly would Israel want a country that has threatened to wipe them off the world map to be armed with nuclear weapons?

I think that some people here assume that the word "terrorism" exclusively implies "Islamic terrorism". A fairly common usage is that it involves the pursuit of political, social or religious ends by means of acts of terror.

Seems to describe both the apartheid states South Africa and Israel pretty accurately :(

However, this does rather miss the point that Israel's possession of nuclear weapons is conveniently overlooked in the West. Perhaps if Israel didn't possess a massive nuclear article and the means to use it, probably over a range of more than 1,000 miles range there would be less incentive for the Iranians to develop them as a deterrent against a potential Israeli nuclear strike

They would have kept the weapons if it wasn't for the imminent arrival of majority black government.

The correct translation was that the Israeli regime should disappear from the pages of time, no different to what US/Israel have been openly saying about Iran for decades.

It's amazing what a bit of media propaganda can do even to this day people see Iran as a country frothing at the mouth to nuke the Jews, despite the fact that they have the second largest Jewish population in the Middle East.

On the other hand most of the anti-apartheid activists in South Africa were Jewish so it evens out.
Without in any way wanting either to support or question your bizarre apparent suggestion that the ANC had a significant Jewish membership, I would certainly agree that there are many Jews who are not supportive of the racist "Jewish State" - they are all of course rabid "anti-Semites"
