Call Of Duty: Black OPS

Well traditionally Treyarch take a good COD game developed by IW and make it crap, (COD3 WAW), so I'm not getting me hopes up too high. However, it does appear as though they are really trying on this one, and listening to the community can't hurt either so i'll give it a bash.

Funny thing is, when it was just for PC, they actually improved the game RE: United Offence.

I think they can make a good game, they just need the time to develop it. If i remember they were given such a short time to develop WAW by Activision along with not been given full access to the COD engine by Infinity Ward/Activision

I am actually feeling fairly optimistic about Black Ops. I think Activision are using this as an opportunity to prove they are more than capable without Infinity ward. But let's wait and see. :p

They said there would be dedicated severs and mods in mw2 too right up until 2 weeks before release.

It was never said, it was just assumed. They didnt say until asked about it as I recall.

The Link below is of an interview with Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia.

We'll see what happens when it actually comes out. If there are dedicated servers then I may well set up an OcUK one, if not then I won't and I will probably skip buying the game alltogether. Hopefully steam will be integrated the same/better than MW2 aswell...

Treyarch did a good job on WaW i think. They are better than IW who just make a game then sod off, makes me sick. Treyarch also listen to the fans and patched WaW even when cod mfw2 came out.

Part of the reason I really liked cod4 was the fact the modding community brought out some amazing mods. This really extended the life of the game. My hope is for the same to happen with the new COD esp if the competitive community get behind it.

Singleplayer

  • Vietnam is just a small part of the story. The games story is set across a large period of time.
  • Some of the singleplayer maps are based on multiplayer maps, which is usually the other way around.
  • In some missions you have the option to move in stealthily or go in guns blazing.
  • The enemy AI is smarter. They will now try to dodge if you aim at them.

Multiplayer

  • Multiplayer has been in development from day one.
  • Lean is back!
  • Vehicles will be returning.
  • Create-A-Class 2.0 includes deep customization and new features.
  • The game will include a "barebones" game mode.
    1. As the name implies, there won't be any perks or killstreaks, just old school gameplay.
  • Many familiar weapons will be making a return, including the AK-47.
  • The region filter is back.
  • Improved matchmaking and server browser.
  • Modern Warfare 2's host migration will be included.
  • Auto-Aim can be turned on/off.
  • PC gamers will be able to enjoy the comfort and luxury of dedicated servers.
  • The PC version will have an anti-cheat software, but it's unknown if it's Punkbuster.
  • There will be support for the competitive community, which will include great tools.
  • The team focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game is twice the size (World at War).

Co-op Mode

  • There will be 2-4 player co-op.
  • Supports 2 player offline split-screen.
  • It won't be based on the singleplayer campaign.
  • Zombies might be making a return from World at War.

Miscellaneous

  • The game engine is a heavily modified version of the IW engine which was used in World at War.
  • The game runs at 60 FPS!
  • Physics destruction is going to be limited, so no Battlefield Bad Company 2 style "blow holes in the walls" gameplay.
  • The PC version will look better than the console versions (duh).
  • There are over 200 people working on Black Ops!

What I would like to see is:
Singleplayer like WaW, because come on, That had to be the best Singleplayer out of the last three COD's. Multiplayer like first MW, because that was the best Multiplayer I have ever played, about 20 times better than the crappy Multiplayer for MW2. And, ZOMBIES! They were awesome. Bring them back and I will buy.

May I just step in and say: I REALLY hope you and all PC gamers support (buy) this game (if it's good). They have given you what you wanted (and should have had before!) with dedi servers. This will be a great time to show developers how you feel!

hmm no? what improvements to the game has been made since mw1 or even cod 1 lol? it's just the same stuff with new colours

wont be buying

mw2 was such a waste of money

it looks like that hopping about randomly kind of story line again, like james bond or something which I hate

MOH looks better, arcady gameplay but set in one real world location

COD always seems to be the result of the developers wanting to include:
snow level
desert level
somthing in a plane level
getting chased in a car level

meh

**** off.

Activision have destroyed far too many promising franchises because they could not be churned out year on year.

This game is just mw1 re skinned for the second time in as many years, there's no point to buy it.

You just can't be pleased.

Yes I can, quite easily too.

I'd marry the bug ridden stalker series because they actually had a good (if risky idea) and ran with it.

And supcom, and coh, and l4d 1&2, x3, fallout 1&2, bc2.

the cod series is just the same every year with a different box art.

“In the last cycle of videogames you spent $50 on a game, played it and took it back to the shop for credit. Today, we’ll (charge) $100 for a guitar. You might add a microphone or drums; you might buy two or three expansions packs, different types of music. Over the life of your ownership you’ll probably buy around 25 additional song packs in digital downloads. So, what used to be a $50 sale is a $500 sale today.”

Activision, Kotick said, has no interest in games that “don’t have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises.”

That's just soulless pap :(
