Does anone own one of these, I think they are 04 to 08 shape although that could be totally wrong?

Would like any information really, what you think of it, what the interiors like any problems etc

Please dont mention Leons as my mates had one so I know about them

Oh and if anyone does have one would be good to see pics

Had a 57' 1.9 Tdi FR. Suspension was rock solid and the tyres were like an inch of rubber put on for show, really really harsh ride. The interior was made of cheese, look at it too hard and it scratched, very brittle plastic also seemed a bit dated. Apart from the harsh ride the handling was fairly good and the 1.9 Tdi 130 moved the car quite well, warm hatch territory i guess, reckon you're looking more into petrols though. Problems were common ones, rear windscreen washer hose kept coming loose, front lights kept misting up after a wash and rattles and squeaks were present at 1yr old.

That doesnt sound too good, sounds like the traits of the previous gen Ibiza, my mate had a Leon and I liked the interior, I presumed the interior would be the same and went to view a Cupra, oh how wrong was I. Shame I like the idea of a fun to drive little turbo charged hatch but you pretty much confirm everything I have read by reviewers

Thanks

My ex owned an Ibiza FR (56 plate), it was quite quick, but was silly on fuel. 260 miles to a tank and about mid 20's mpg, and that was with her driving normally. Put your foot down and it's even worse

The interior was alright, had a fair few rattles from the door panels on either side and hers was pretty low on toys

Cupra is much nicer imo

i have a cupra tdi and it has the odd rattle and shake. seats seem fine plastics are well meh plastics , cant really comment on the ride quality as it has coilovers fitted

Yeah 1.8 20VT isnt great on fuel, the new 2.0 TFSI is so much better for performance/economy but its not affordable

Maybe I should just go and look at one, just noticed there is a Seat dealer fairly close, opposite a Toyota dealer in fact which is cool because another car I want to look at is the Corrola T-Sport

If anyone has any pre-hosted pics to hand it would be nice to see them

Cheers

Tbh, 260 from a tank sounds about right to me for a quickish petrol hatch around town. I've managed to squeeze 28mpg out of my CTS but thats driving like a grandad, city traffic just drinks fuel.

Nice looking pre mate, how you finding it? Any problems with lift bolts and that rad that goes pop or something?

Rare optional front lip too. These are nice cars, I love high revving NA but do a lot of traffic driving so its hard to rev these days boost is a little more accesable

Been great so far. Lift bolts I changed for the sake of it, but the ones that came out were barely worn. I think its more of a problem on the early Celica's really. No problems radiator related, though I've not heard it being common on the CTS.

Engine is great fun, but the power band is a bit of a pain in the ass. Its hard to drive fast and be vaguely mechanically sympathetic, plus by the time you've hit the power band your being very naughty. Still a good laugh though, and the noise is incredible.

Still have plans to lower it and stiffen it up a bit, but this has been put on hold as I'm about to move house :(.

i was going to get a 1.8 20vt when i got my cupra a month ago but the price the cupra tdi came up for with a quoted 220+ bhp and 358 nm torque for 6700 was a steal for 05 plate

yep jabbasport tuned far as i know custom remap stage 3, upped clutch, custom intercooler, full millitek on it hybrid turbo good for about 280 bhp so ive been told , its off to the rolling road soon so ill know proper output as i purchased it like this. and if you look on revo site youll see 130 pds getting taken to 170 is around about with just a remap , my friends pd100 tdi got taken to 165 with just a remap

I had a 1.9tdi FR and spent a lot of time with the Cupras as well. At the time for such a small car and price the FRs were a decent spec with what they came as standard. Now most of them have caught up and the ibiza is no longer a cheap VAG car as it was in 2005.

We got our FR otr for 11k in 2005 and they are now nearer 16 which is ridiculous.

We had no issues at all with our FR, either interior or exterior. The ride was stiff but that has never ever bothered me. The cupra I found to be pretty un-useable except in a straight line. Anytime I opened it up in anything but a straight line it was just too much torque for such a small front wheel drive car.

My car has basically the same engine with a greater bulk to carry around and I've never seen lower than 28mpg over a tank. Long term average is 32mpg both before and after my remap to 205 bhp.

I had exactly the same engine with the exact same turbo as you do in your VRS which is the K03S, mine wasnt remapped but it was in a big heavy Audi A4 with permanant AWD quattro (not haldex)

I barely saw over 25mpg

My mate had a Leon with the same engine and turbo and he got similar figures to you with an APR remap and a few other mods, that car went like **** off a shiny shovel

Not bad reallly when you consider how old the 20VT is now but the 2.0 TFSI is better in ways inc economy, considering the power it has the mpg is very impressive
