Hi All,

The inside quater of my rear tyres have started to scrub quite quickly (I only had new tyres on the front about 6 months back) and the fronts went on the rear.

Now my tyres (as far as I can see) are still legal as they still have plenty of tread on the other 3/4

As you can see on the left of the photo the inside of the tyre is starting to bald a little, this happened on my last lot of tyres (KU31s) is this normal? or is it some sort of alignment issue?

Any help appriciated!

Depends on your alignment and what car it is whether you would deem it an 'issue' or not.

My geometry will 'promote' inside wear as it's set up for fast road, answer is to corner harder :D

Ah, just seen your sig. How many miles has the tyre done in those 6 months? You may want to get the alignment checked/changed to stop such wear but that does not look overly bad to me. Hard to tell how much tread you actually have left though.

My old car used to do that to every set of tyres in 5k miles, its depressing :)

I think you'll find that's a dead (as in illegal) tyre due to the excess wear on the inside edge. The whole tyre itself looks fairly worn as well. Looks like you're hitting one of the
wear indicators in the middle as well...

Have you had the alignment checked? You could have a faulty drop link/suspension component...

How will that fix his alignment issues exactly?

lol - it won't but he'll have some tread!

As DRZ infers - before the tyre is changed find out what is wrong with the car. I would have thought a cooper s would be quite light on tyres. However, you say they were on the front. They're quite torquey so that might explain it?

Just been to ATS as well as a mates garage, both concur with what I thought (Tyres are knackered) sadly i've just realised it's affected all 4 tyres :( even the ones on the front that are <6 months old.

So it's going to BMW Wednesday Morning for a KDS and 4 new tyres from my mates garage on Wednesday afternoon.

This is going to be an expensive week :(

BMW want £150 for a KDS.. any ideas for anywhere else in the midlands that will do the job for any cheaper? ScoobyDoo69 has reccomended Center mavity in Atherstone. Anyone had any experience with them?

Edit: Also is it best to get the Alignment done first and then the tyres or get all 4 on and get it aligned?

aligned first. New tyres won't affect it.

I hear centre mavity are good. I don't know if it's near you but wheels in motion are also good.

Thanks for all the helpfull advice. I'll see what mavity Center say tomorrow and hope they can get me in the next day or so :)
