driving nerves

I didn't drive on a motorway, or even a dual carriageway until about 4 years after passing. -I have to drive about 40 minutes to reach one :p. Until that time, I'd never needed to

After uni I started driving again, I found it really strange to drive in Cardiff at first, but after a few days I got used to it.

I passed my test a year ago, and only just got a car so haven't driven in a year, so the first few drives I was a bit nervous. Soon you will be fine and have no problem with it - I find that planning your route before you go can really help, also learn which lane to be in before it's too late and you panic.

Good luck.

I just real-life face palmed at people actually suggesting the OP have a drink or two before driving. How utterly, utterly ridiculous.

Are you american?

Reason i ask, the only other person i have met to ever fail at english humor this badly was an american :p

go driving at the dead of night, far more fun plus the roads are clear. You also get more practice this way, it's what i used to do.

I did this. Used to pop out 12/1am and just drive around everywhere, somtimes 50-60 miles away from home. Watch out for them speed cameras though, back when i started there was a whole lot less lol.

Whats wrong with some of you?

Have a few whiskeys before driving? are you mad?

Telling someone to drink drive is utterly stupid, i certainly wouldn't get in the car with you or take any advice from you.

Classic example of why you need to read the whole thread before replying :p

Dj_Jestar just facepalmed you :D

I personally only drive when I am too drunk to walk anywhere. I am rarely nervous, even after ploughing through a crowd of schoolchildren.

For me I think it was a question of maturity. When I was younger I was a nervous person in general which showed itself when I drove. Eventually stopped having lessons, came back to it 4 years later, got in started the engine and got on with it. Like riding a bike it is something you don't forget.
