How Many Fans To 1 Molex?

How many fans can I connect to a single molex safely without sacrificing any speed?

I plan on using these fans: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-001-FD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

2? 3? 4?

Molex connectors can typically take 5A loads each.

They will not slow down, as the PSU will handle quite a few before the connectors or cables melt.

Those fans are 3 pin and plug straight into the motherboard. In which case they should only be used in 1's. If you use an adapter, you can connect a lot to a 4 pin molex.

Greatly depends on the PSU aswell. Decent PSUs use nice thicks cables capable of carrying more voltage.

Cheap PSUs, well you can prob work that out, lol.

If the rating of the cable is indeed 5A then you could power 20-30 fans off one molex, depending on each fans' current draw. In other words don't worry about overloading it with fans.

I used to run 2 fans, and 2 hard drives off one molex with splitters. Had no problems

most molex are joined on the same cable though ive ran 4 fans and 2hdd on the same cable (2 different molex)

well the average fan is 1Watt at 12V assuming the cable is 5A it would be 5/(1/12) = 60 fans @ 1W

so i'm sure you aren't going to run into trouble with the number of fans.
