Ok so I bought a deathadder back in Oct 08 on recommendations from fellow members here. It's served me well except for the glossy sides picking up all kinds of finger junk.

Recently the right click would double click and now I can't click and drag with the left button which is extremely irritating. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and fireware but no good and can't do it warrenty because I didn't get from an approved store.

I'm using an MX500 mouse to tide me over but I have smallish hands and hate the feel of it so i'm not after an MX518. This has shaken me a little in terms of razer build quality so are there alternatives to the Deathadder in the £40 region?

I had the same thing will not buy another razor again i had 2 deathadders but got the double click...cheap POS...on a better note just got a Logitech G500 £35 really nice much better in every way

I've gone from a deathadder to CM Sentinel

Really comfy, and doesnt have shiny sides as its covered in a rubbery material

I have an original deathadder, depending on where I click the left button it sometimes doesn't register which can be frustrating when playing some multiplayer FPS.

I took it apart and gave the scroll wheel and the micro switches a good clean but noticed the centre of the switch has a small indent where it has worn. Maybe that is the cause of my problem. I usually click very close to the scroll wheel and now need to click more in the middle of the button.

Up until it playing up it was great I just worry now about going for something different because of having to get used to a new shape/weight etc. The deathadder took me a month or so to get used to after a standard microsoft optical mouse.

I'm on my second deathadder in 3 years, my other one had some left click issues and they sent me a new one following RMA. Still working a charm.

...and I have one of the first Death Adders from ...I don't even know how many years ago now and it still works perfectly. Then again I have never broken a mouse ...I've a friend who gets through even the most sturdy mice like they are consumables ...and my Mother seems to wear Mice out quite quickly too.

I recommend the Death Adder as 'probably' the best alround mouse ever made that doesn't cost a fortune.

I've got the Steel Series Xai and I would not recommend it. Sure, it's a lovely mouse and performs well, but I've had it two weeks and I'm RMAing it for two issues which it seems are fairly common.

One is causing my PC to reboot whenever it is plugged in and going through BIOS POST. The other is the scroll wheel, where if you scroll up, sometimes it stores the scroll and does it on the next click of the wheel, causing you, for example in an FPS, to scroll through multiple weapons instead of just one.

When the RMA goes through, I'm changing to the Razer Imperator that has just come out. It's been getting awards left, right and centre.

I'm still liking my DeathAdder (3G) and have no issues with it so far, but if I was to get another mouse to replace it or for another pc I'd be seriously looking at the Steel Series Xai HD or maybe the Roccat Kova as another possiblity. According to some places I've read the 3.5g sensor in the Razer Imperator isn't as good as the 3g sensor, which would put me off it slightly.
