I've just switched back to wet-shaving in the shower, as my electric (rotary) was getting pretty naff in this hot weather .

I used to have a Wilkin Sword Quattro Titanium, but that got chucked when I went electric.

This morning I used a generic cheapo rubbish thing, and you've guessed it.... blood everywhere :(.

What's the razor these days? I can't say I've paid any attention to adverts etc since I went electric.

Mach 3 Turbo is what I'd use if I'm not using a double edged safety razor, it might not get quite as close but it's a bit faster I find and harder to cut yourself with accidentally.

Merkur.

Its not hard to shave in the shower with it if your brave like me :)

Ah yes - the mans razor edged willy extension. Only if you enjoy dicking around and making the whole shaving thing a ritual. Oh and you don't mind cutting yourself a bit.

Its easier to keep clean, The blade doesnt block up, i find it quicker, i get less rash and Since ive been using it ive only ever cut my self once.

And i normally look like moses before a shave:cool:

I always use Fusion. Think it's Fusion Black or something that i have at the moment - one the "vibrating" ones. They're a lot nicer to use coz it's just smoother.

'Kinell that's long!

Not sure I'll be able to read all that (without getting caught!) before lunch :(

Anyone feel like summarising for me? :p

Sure.

(a) Get a Mach 3 if you don't have time in the morning and are okay with an adequate but not great shave. This will be far more expensive than using a double edged razor but is convenient,

or

(b) Get a razor like a Merkur and some decent blades and cream/soap. This will take time to learn, takes longer to shave in the morning but gives a superior shave and is less likely to give you razor rash. On the other hand, you can cut yourself if you're not careful.

I go with (b) unless I'm very pressed for time in which case I'll go the (a) route.

additionally:

B. will cost more initially but that's soon made back with the cheapness of the blades.

that's it really

Merkur with decent blades, never going back to anything else.

Gillette/ wilkinson etc. are overpriced tosh that just get clogged with hair unless you have thin facial hair like a 14 year old. No matter what I do hair just gets stuck between the blades and leads them to cut the crap out of my face and they blunt easy.
Cheap razors just don't shave close enough and blunt easy.
Electric razors leave stubble, rubbish.

I've been using the Quattro Titanium for quite some time now, I'm fair haired so perhaps slightly more sensitive skin (?), I moisturise a lot which doesn't help, but i've found the four blades very comfortable and forgiving. Excellent close shave without cuts, leaves skin fresh and smooth, really like them.

I personally prefer four blades over three and much prefer a wet razor shave to my very expensive Braun electric which rarely sees the light of day!
