Sunglasses

My Oakleys are 12 years old now. I had some garish skiing ones which I'd actually bought off a friend in school - this was when Oakleys were really hard to get in the UK.

I broke the glasses and contacted Oakley for replacement arms. They said they didn't make them anymore but if I sent them back to Oakley they would give me 50% off any pair I wanted.

Customer services truly above the rest.

Before them, I had some free Burger King Jurassic Park sunglasses :D

kind of echo's my experiences of them.

I was on holiday in the US and scratched the lenses on my Juliet as a grain of sand had got into my glasses case.

Went into the store, explained my situation and the guy in the store did me a discount on the replacement lenses (charged me $30 when usually $50 or something), fitted the replacement ones for me there and then, cleaned the new ones all up for me before handing them back, all while being amazingly polite and chatty and looking like he thoroughly enjoyed his job.

Granted some of that is down to the individual rather than the company, but the company has to take some credit for employing him in the first place !

I agree with this. One of the lenses in my Wire 2.0s kept falling out so I Emailed them asking if I could get them repaired. The glasses were well out of warranty and I'd lost all the receipt etc.

Oakley said that for ~£20 I could renew the warranty and get them serviced. I decided to get the lenses replaced with polarised versions at the same time and I was also able to specify the colour of the socks.

After receiving them I got an Email saying that the frames needed replacing completely (done under the new warranty) and so for less than £100 I got brand new polarised Wire 2.0s with specified sock colour.

I was a very happy chappy.

Saw some STUD wearing a pair of Glasses in his car that were too big for his face but the funniest thing was when he parked up, he took his glasses off and got out of the car towards the high street, squinting away

Ahem,...does the sun not shine outside your car......Weired

Maybe, like me, he can't stand wearing glasses and only puts them on when he has to.

I spent the whole weekend with mine tucked into my shirt because I wasn't being blinded quite enough to warrant putting them on :p

Oakley Oilrigs here.

I wasn't a huge fan on their appearance, but I bought them on my way out to Tunisia a few years ago after sitting on my Ray-Bans in the Taxi! They were the only ones that felt secure enough, and gave enough eye coverage (after being so frustrated with the RayBans allowing light in from top/sides.)

I'm going to send them off shortly for some polarised lenses, as the ones in there are a little scratched now, Although I've been meaning to look into some prescription lenses as to drive I really need glasses (Not quite legally, but it sure makes things a little easier).

None, afaik the cheap ones don't filter OV well and I don't think spending more than a tenner on glasses is worth the money, the sun doesn't bother me that much, I have sunscreens...

So when the sun is halfway down your windscreen, you just pull the chord a bit and the sunscreen covers it? Why didn't I think of that!

No, I just sit straight up instead of halfway down.

Low sun usually isn't as annoying/intense as high sun, it doesn't bother me enough to annoy me.
