hahaha that works I got my office fan on now, its heating up in here :o

I need to get rid of my two HD4890s and get something cooler :o

I've just had to turn the small fan off next to my window because i'm starting to get a bit chilly, however now it's turned off it feels like it's getting hotter again...

Just sent wife off to B&Q to purchase air con unit......:D

*update*

We got the cheapest one from B&Q and its noisy and fairly heavy but with it set up in the bedroom the coldness eventually makes its way downstairs cooling most of the house!!

20 - 40p / hour though :(

My room was about 35C when I got home last night, just opened the windows and let a draft come in and it was lovely. However, I cope with the heat better than most as I love it! :D

I just use the laptop instead of using the desktop.

As for cooling your room down - if you're on the top floor of a house or attic room ,you need to make sure it's well insulated - it'll help a lot. Secondly, airflow, it's the key. The air is quite cool it's not as if we're a Med country where the shade and air are hot so just getting a breeze will quickly lower your room temp. If it's still overbearing for you, a fan will also work, and if all else fails, you can fork out for an A/C unit. You can get ones which deposit all the condensed water in it's own tray so you don't need an exhaust out of the window, you need to make sure all the windows and doors are closed. As a final alternative, if you have access to your roof and if it's safe to do so, get a hose and drench the roof with water - the evaporation will cool your room down (if you're on the last floor) - and discover if you have any leaks! :D

It's quite clear the OP needs more than a fan to dissipate the excess heat in the room. A fan would be okay in a normal room without a PC generating a lot of heat, with the PC, you have to remove the PC or air condition the room somehow if it's really that bad.

Even in a sealed room at a constant 35 degrees C, a fan would cool the skin through increasing the rate of sweat evaporation rather than, as you say, 'just blow warm air around the room'.

Strip off completely naked, window wide open.
Usually can just about sleep.

Don't go near my room in the day, it's just a bed, a tv and some clothes, not a big fancy room with daytime use :p

I have a small 9" fan under my desk on the amplifier stand aimed upwards, it blasts cool air upwards and along the laminate floor so cooling starts from the feet up, I found this helps in this kind of weather greatly even though you lose most of your body heat through your head.

Strange but true!
