Does anyone know how the Conti-Sport Contacts (i assume this is revision 1) since the site doesn't state otherwise, compare to the later revisions of this tyre (2 & 3)?

I'm particually worried about wet grip, if anyone has any reviews / benchmarks that would be great.
 
Well, 2s were discontinued a while ago, so I doubt very much you'd get originals any more, and if you did they'd have been sat there too long to want to consider them, imo.
 
I have one on my car, can't say I've noticed any difference compared to my other tyres, it's very slippery when accelerating in the wet and when braking in the wet abs kicks in much earlier. What I'm trying to say is I believe it could be quite a bit better in wet.

My Golf in 1999 came with Conti-Sport Contacts as standard from the factory. They were quite a good tyre although the 2s I had on subsequently were better in terms of grip especially in the wet. I haven't tried 3s as I went straight to Eagle F1s, and have never looked back!

Are you really trying to convey meaningful tyre experience based on having ONE tyre!?

You are in no position to comment on the qualities of this tyre.
Perhaps if you had bought a matching pair from new, but not some random one you found on the side of the motorway in Poland.


Anyway, as stated above, the ContiSportContact 2 has been discontinued, and that was no doubt an improvement over the first one.

As for wet weather grip, check out this latest tyre test..

ContiSportContact 3 is second-best in the wet to the F1 Assymetric, but blows everything else away in the dry.
 
I like my ContiSportContact 3s a lot. I think they're excellent tyres, albeit rather expensive.
The wear rate isn't particularly good though.

Tell me about it.

I've gone through a front set in less than 6,000 miles on my Focus. Which, given that I'm hardly thrashing it every chance I get, is rather poor.

I'm thinking Ultrac Sessantas might be my next choice.
 
They did 3,000 miles on the front before being moved to the back.
They've done around 6-7,000 since then. I'm not sure exactly as I've had winters on this year.
There's still around a fair amount of tread before it gets down to the markers though.

This certainly isn't an accelerated wear rate, but I've been told that they don't last particularly long.
Depends on your driving style, car and usage I guess.
I suppose rotating them helps too. I don't really have a choice as 2 only ever seem to need replacing at the same.

I have them on my 530d and i reckon ill get 9-10k out of the rears. The rears have about 3.5mm left and fronts still have 6mm on them and have done about 7.5k. My driving style is fairly heavy on tyres as well.

My VXR had its original CS2s on the back, which were just approaching the wear markers at 18k.

At 12k when I bought it, it had replacement CS3s on the front with approximately 3-4mm tread left, at 16k they were scrap. So about 8k for the fronts is about right if you take them right the way down to the markers.
 
I have the Contisportcontact N1 on my car (245/45/R16) and they are still available (not discontinued), these are the porsche fitment though so guess thats why they still make them.

I've had numerous different tyres on my cars over the years, some super grippy (but wear quickly). Some which take ages to wear but have no grip whatsoever.

I've been really happy with the Continentals and just noticed they are almost reaching the legal limit so its time to get some more :) - I've noticed the Bridgestone S02 are available as well as the Conti's and £10 cheaper....
