Huzzar!!

So, i think I've borked my Sony X Series MP3 player stock buds, as i have to wiggle them and that to get 'right' to work. So I'm thinking of 'upgrading' as it were, to some newer, better bud, but the had to be the one that go right inside your ear with the little rubber bits.

Please help fellas!

I dropped £140 on some Beats tour by dre with control talk. They are pretty amazing in terms of sound quality and how isolating they are, though I wish they weren't so bloody expensive....

...looks like I'm eating cold beans for the rest of the week :P

Wouldnt be able to compare them to previous headphones youve used? Thinking about a pair for my iPhone...

I've always had Shure headphones. Using e210s at the moment - great sound quality, but shoddy build quality and I've been through about 4 pairs so far. They seem prepared to honour the warranty far above what is listed on their website though, so I've only needed to purchase 1 pair.

Sure. Ill give it a whirl.

The only decent pair of headphones I've owned before these Dre Tour Beats are skullcandy full metal jackets (the iphone compatible version with mic) and a pair of sony headphones that came with an mp3 player. The dre beats tour are on a whole different level as they should be for such a lot of money (I've never spent over 40£ on headphones before). The bass is fantastic and I'm hearing things in tracks that I have never heard before. I got them yesterday and I was up all night listening to my favourite tunes and it was like I was hearing them again for the first time.

The bass isnt heavy like it is on the skullcandy FMJs and on the whole the sound is very balanced from the Dre beats tour. Control talk works amazingly well. If you hold down the skip track button you can even use voice control to skip, pause etc. This feature works great on my 3rd Gen iPod touch. I dont have an iphone so I dunno how it handles calls but, the in built mic is very, very good (I tested it on voice notes)

In terms of sound isolation, the provided silicone tips work great for my ear size and I feel like im in my own little world. Even loud sounds like trains are completely inaudible when you have your music turned to 50% volume. They are not 100% sound isolated when no music is playing and it depends on the kind of seal you can get with the earbuds which varies from person to person.

Together with the 3 year warranty I think it was a good buy, but if you cant get a good seal with the various provided silicone tips (5 different sizes and shapes are included) then the sound quality does suffer.

Bests and Skull Candy are both really poor and overpriced. You can get way better for a fraction.

Based on what exactly? Yes the beats are very pricey but I wouldn't call them poor. Do you or have you ever owned a pair? I'm intrigued as to why you are saying they are poor

Cheers icedbullet - its either those or Shures+adapters for me, just trying to justify the cost - will be going from some Sony EX90s - sorry to take the thread off tangent...

I have seen quite a few people comment on they are too costly for what they are. They might be decent to some people, but you can get better, for less. You are paying for his name. Just looking at consumer reviews, a good portion gave them a bad rating, saying not worth the money.

@Psuedo: no worries I'm loving my Tours atm. Glad I took the plunge, I have been reading some negative reviews about build quality but as far as I can see they are solidly built and I've had no issues so far

@Marsman: So what in your opinion can I get for £140 that are better then the Beats by Dre Tours? I'm no audio expert but I picked up my tours because I read reviews and heard them for myself, to me the sound is very good.
