I'm due an upgrade in August, and miss my magic an awful lot, and want to go back to Android. The Desire looks great, but I'm wondering if there's something new on the horizon (there usually is) that I can look at when coming to upgrade, even if I have to buy it myself.

Yeah the Dell Streak if you don't mind O2, out on the 4th June, but be warned its an absolute tank of a thing, 5" screen plus the bezel, it just about fits in your pocket though :)

Acer are releasing a 720P recording Android phone too in H2 of 2010. The handset is called "Acer Liquid Stream" and has just had papers filed with the FCC.

It looks ugly though...

I think battery life may be an issue with some of these devices....!

I'd like a HTC but my E71 lasts pretty much all week atm, they don't seem to last as long.

My next phone will need to have a battery that lasts at least twice as long, scratch resistant screen and hdmi out.

Untill then the Desire hits the spot.

Yeah for me until battery technology catches up I personally wouldn't want anything more than the deaire, I took 30 seconds of video and it used 5% of the TOTAL battery power

HTC EVO? Not sure on release date over there, but getting all sorts of glowing reviews over here. Comes out next week in US.

That's because the battery use meter can be deceiving, a few mins after unplugging isn't enough time to get real world figures of usage. Span it over 24 hours unplugged instead.

Evo and Incredible are very CDMA, so very useless to us :p The Incredible is a Desire with a worse camera (Yes I know its 8mp, its still worse) but better touch screen layer. Wouldn't really move the game on over here

The Evo, again the CDMA is useless, and the 4G almost as much so :( I want 4G already :(

I get good battery life out of my xperia and baring in mind its dual core its almost as battery intensive as the desire - aslong as I only enable 3G/Wifi on demand (GPRS always on) rather than leaving them at on or auto I only need to charge every 5-6 days or so with moderate useage.

Do you mean Xperia X10? I didn't think that was dual core... and 5-6 days is just insane battery life for a smart phone

Indeed, you must only be sending one text per day or something to get 5/6 days out of it, even then you'd be pushing it most likely

Oh, and it's not Dual Core unless I've missed something quite huge.
