Hi all,

Being that I have used up my cash ISA allowance for the year, I was wondering about maybe sticking the bonus (that might be coming) into a stocks and shares ISA. Has anyone on here ever taken one out? Where is a good place to start and finding some good deals, or do good deals actually exist?

Any info on how you got into this would be of much help!

Cheers

There are a number of cheap index trackers from companies such as Legal & General, where you just put the money in and leave it for a few years, avoid the FTSE100 though it never performs well. I made 30% the other year over a 12month period in their Pacific index and ftse all share funds.

I have a few years worth in a couple funds with Hargreaves and Lansdown (www.h-l.co.uk). Highly recomend them,Ii've returned ~30% over 14 months just from picking a couple funds they recommended.

and I'm sure people have doubled their money at the bookies. 30% is extremely successful. You got lucky. 10% on a good yr is what to expect.. Take a look at Warren Buffet, Berkshire Hathaway...... BRK-A (if you have a spare 100k per share) their goal is around 13% which means beating the market by only 3% and that's because they have enough money to invest in small caps and take more risk.. More risk = more reward at this game..

Do not let this recent successful run fool you into thinking you are onto a winner. It'll soon be taking back.

I put my allowance into a s&s isa for last year and just left it as cash, with new government (cuts) on the way and ftse at highest level (at the time) i thought it could only go down.
It's gone down a bit, but when is the time to invest! If i knew that i wouldn't be posting here!
