Anyone had dental stitches?

I hate teeth too ! I've had 2 abcesses before. Hurt like a bitch! Both teeth had to be extracted as I didn't want to have root canal.

Another tooth has recently started to hurt now, after a tiny crack that I think may be getting bigger! It disturbed my sleep last night was pretty painful and I hope it doesn't decide to abcess. Trying my best to keep it clean from bacteria with frequent cleaning + salt water swills.

:(

I had an abscess because of mine, i was ordered to squeeze the crap out of it every so often to keep it 'down' as such. I can't describe the pain...

Best thing for an abscess is boil the kettle and dip a cotton bud into it and then press against the abscess.

The initial first few seconds you touch it make it go numb, so you can stick a needle straigh into :)

i did this with an abscess i had, was stood in a mirror for more than 30mins squeezing black puss out of it

I must have been really bloody lucky when I had one of my wisdom teeth out, as it only took about 10 minutes and I didn't feel a thing! It hurt for a bit afterwards, but nothing some mouthwash didn't sort out :)

I am even luckier. Have all four, three are fully out and one is cutting at the moment. Have enough room for all of them. 32 Nashers primed to tear meat.

Think you just had a horrible time, I had a dull ache for the rest of the day and was certainly tender for a week after but nothing like you describe. Isn't it just a case of take 2 paracetamol and 2 hours later 2 ibuprofen and repeat till you have hit max dose? Think my stitches took a good few weeks but I forgot about them after a while and just realised they were gone one day.

Dude this shiz sounds proper painful, i was thinking of getting my all my wisdom teeth removed as well as they are knocking the rest of my teeth out of place.....

They smashed all 4 of mine out a few years ago. Mine had hooked roots so couldnt be pulled and were basically chiseled out of my jaw.

Looked like id done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson afterwards and I suffered some nerve damage (I cant feel the left side of the tip of my tounge now).

I got some loverly painkilers out of it though made the world go all fuzzy. That and some bags of frozen peas got me though the worst.

But even a couple of years later I cant face eating soup anymore, I got sooooo bored of it after not being able to eat solid food.

Urgghh, this thread makes for horrible reading by the way. I'm squirming just reading about the pain all you guys have suffered over the years.

You've got to wonder if dentists secretly enjoy inflicting immense discomfort and pain on their victims...

When I had to have two wisdom teeth out, I was bricking it as the dentist had said to the nurse when making the appointment "make it a long appointment, I might need to play with them a bit"

Fortunately, they came out without any trouble.

I had to have my cheek bone pulled back in place a couple of years ago luckily i was under a general, (however i did have writing i couldnt wash off on my face when i went in to the op from a heavy night out) One of the ways they went in was the back of the mouth and the stitches joining my cheek to my gums were a pain at first but they went away partially after 3-4weeks and 6-8 to go completely. :(

Luckily i didnt have to much pain as nerve damage had numbed the whole left side of my face/ head but I found those big pink ibuprofen they give you in hospital and the big paracetimol do the trick. :D

Had a tooth taken out not too long ago myself, had to be cut out (after much twisting and pulling) anyway i developed dry socket and my god the pain, it is worse than anything i have ever experienced in my life.

Oil of Clove as mentioned before is the only thing that took the edge off the pain, and even that was only briefly. I wasnt too bothered about the pain of having the tooth removed at all and have never been bothered about dental pain up until this point. Wouldnt wish it on anyone !

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out over easter - had it done under general anaesthetic. Not sure what else they pumped into me, but I felt absolutely awesome when I woke up.

The pain only seemed to last two days at the most for me. Was expecting to need strong pain killers, but paracetamol did the job over those two days. My stitches dissolved after approximately 10 days - wasn't really gradual, just woke up one day and they were gone, haha.

For anyone else looking to have wisdom teeth out under general anaesthetic, I wouldn't sweat it - was no more painful than having a normal tooth out. :)
