Thinking of purchasing a gaming headset for the pc. I guess mainly for CoD 6 as CoD 4 its useless on hehe.

Have to be comfy of course.
And want to be able to hear foot steps quickly and 'where they are coming from' i hear you can do that on commentary of MW2

Want to spend a max of say £70 hopefully less though. A mic on them isn't required but wouldn't mind.

Suggestions :D?

Thanks,
Oli

Ok thanks for the suggestion -

Just looking around for prices right now. £75 seems to be cheapest at the river site. Haha the well known pc shop has got them for £120 XD
Do they have a hole in them then so you can just plug in a mic? Current i just use my microsoft webcam hehe -- does the job fine i guess so

Ill see if anyone has any other suggestions :)

Maybe a tad cheaper!

I've got the Goldring NS1000 set. They're absolutely brilliant, but work best with an amp (like any set really), and have the added noise cancelling. Also, look at the Goldring DR150 set, they're similar but an open design, though the NS1000's are a great deal as they're currently available at £50, which is a bargain. Add a clip on mic and you're laughing. A lot of people rate them more highly than the Sennheisers, but I can't comment as I haven't heard both.

Sennheiser HD555 + cheapy clip-on mic.

This is my set up and it doesnt disappoint.

What soundcard do you have? It is just as important to have a decent soundcard coupled with your headset otherwise you will not get the full benefits.

Ok ty

I think ill buy the HD 555's from the big river -- and then buy a sound card sometime whenever

Bear in mind when considering my recommendation, that I have never listened to the alternatives. I bought the 555s without auditioning them and based on other people saying they were good. If you have the chance, listen to others such as the Goldrings, as they may or may not suit your ears better.

I've never owned a decent pair of headphones before this so whilst I'm dead impressed, I have no terms of reference. That said, they're highly regarded by many on these forums.

Thats good enough for me, ordered. Did some next day thing on the big river site :S something about a month trial so should be here tommorow :D

There is no harm in doing a bit of research into getting a soundcard. Investing in one around the £50-£60mark will give you a massive improvement over your current mobo sound driver.

Ye - i will start looking for sound cards. Won't want to spend any more then that really.

Spent so much recently on my pc. Got to get this wc set up still.

I guess if its worth it ill buy the sound card - ill see how i feel with headphones first though. And i wonder how different music would sound with a sound card. Considering i listen to music with heavy bass (hardcore)

Thanks for the inputs guys :D

Your headset will only perform as well as your soundcard lets it. Dont forget that.

Don't forget to cancel that trial or it'll start charging, and it's a lot. Many people have been caught out, so read the small print.

I've got the 555's now. Previously had those Creative Fatality ones and 3 pairs of Medusa's and I can say the 555's are the best for clear sound reproduction and quality. Currently using them on an X-Fi Music and can't be more happy :)

Thanks for the warning! Wonder how much it even costs - ill go check. Though i wouldn't do it either way. Awesome thing though if you buy frequently.

Thanks for the input to the comment above about the 555's and the other headphone suggestion by Dazzy, though have purchased the 555's already ;)

Ok received this morning.

Had an hour or so play with it in Search and destory. Good sound - can hear footsteps though also a load of things i don't want to hear.

Then its like uhh footsteps and trying to figure out where they are coming from

Theres a few options on the sound settings for speaker config:
Windows default
Mono
Stero
4 speakers
5.1 speakers

Im guessing i just keep with windows default as all the others are not what im using ;)
