EK GTX480 back plate

Hi have just purchased a EK Acetal water block for GTX480, it is worth ordering the back plate from EK?? as I've seen reports of the card bending when using this block,, or is there a better and cheaper method.

That's the GPU reinforcer plate it goes around the gpu, some people have had problems when using that, shorting out the gpu and stopping it from booting, EK website are say if you get that problem! not to use that plate..

I have had this block installed without a back plate for a few days and cant see my card bending at all.

just got two delivered so installing them this weekend. will report back.

luckily my Lian Li P80 case has an extra bracket to support the graphics cards, which will support some of the weight, cos these blocks weight a tonne

They are heavy with the waterblocks on, and a recent thread in the gfx card section did make me worry about possible card bending. So I decided to DIY a solution: http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~layte/pics/480-tape-lol.jpg

Well fitted the EK block to day, leak testing it the moment,, have to say it is heavy but so far no real signs of bending yet, will keep an eye on it..
