The socket's are actually quite difficult to replace - Good to hear the home insurance are helping out :)
 
Im quiet good at bending them back I had a old Intel G33 mainboard whichw as given to me as it had bent pins. Said i could keep it and good luck to me if i bend them back.

Sharp knife, tweasers, desk lamp and a lot of time and it was all sorted.

gigabyte changed my mobo when i did a similar thing and bent a few pins in the socket, and i owned up to it being my fault, cost me £10 plus postage one way which i thought was excellent service, i think all manufactures should realise these sockets are too fragile and meet customers at least half way

they are fragile because the tests they must pass is something silly like 3x cpu installs without the socket failing, the sockets arent made to last
