Help me decide on these 2 air coolers plz

surely as long as it got the air nice and cold before spiting it out.

But it won't! ;)

Like has been previously mentioned, it may reduce the temperature by a couple of degrees, but nothing to be noticeable enough. For the volume of warm air that you're trying to cool over a little evaporator, it'll never make a difference.

But you pays your money and makes your choice.

if it just cools the air by 4-5c thats a bonus,, I dont want to be freezing to death like in these air conditioned shops, hehe

Absolutely no chance of that.

I would be surprised if it made any difference to the temperature.

My cheapo air con unit takes a while to reduce the temp by even a couple of degrees and that is venting the hot air outside.

Thats the strange thing,, I hardly get the sun in my room, just for a few hrs in the late afternoon, but what I dont understand is why does the temp carrying on going up when the sun dies down in the eve, till about 12- 1 in the morning even with the windows and doors open. then by the morning, its only like 4c lower, then if its another hot day the next day, its even worse, cos the room hasnt really cooled done much.

Is it the rest of the house? Are you near the top of the building? Could be the rest of the house (on t'other side) is getting the sunlight and cooling quickly as the sun passes over to your side of the house - and you with your windows and door open is only making a nice escape route for all that hot air that's built up. This might explain it getting hot later on into the night too.

A fan does the job keeping you and your ferrets cool, fans don't decrease the temperature of the room BUT they do cool whatever they're directly blowing over, by evaporative effects (which of course does dry you out eventually too, so maybe a fan plus a little moisture is a good thing).

I suggest you keep your bedroom window open and your door shut, but maybe back the fan up against the window to draw cooler air in from outside, instead of the rest of the house.

Im in a wheelchair so my bedroom is down stairs with a outside door, so when its hot my outside door and windows are open. I did try the fan by a open window idea in the evening, but the temp still kept increasing, hehe (someone gave me that idea on a radio station)

Do you open the any other doors or windows downstairs? Without getting a proper draught through the building you'll struggle to feel any benefit.

If it's as hot as you say it is, I'm not really sure there's much you can do. The air coolers certainly won't do anything, you've tried a fan and an open window, and you can't afford an air conditioning unit.

How would you feel about becoming a nudist? :p

Thats the prob, I dont get much of a draft through my bedroom even with the outside door open. I was near enough nude during the hot spell last year.. I even took a photo of the out and inside temp....... The top figgers are the outside. Im still going to get a air cooler tho I think, and if it dont work, I'll just sell the thing.

So am I rightly thinking, if my room isnt very humid, a air cooler will cool the room better then if my room is humid. Like my room was 36% humid last summer, so a air cooler will bring down the temps untill the room is very humid??

Ive took the plunge and ordered the larger 1, and Im guessing "BigDannyO" will be saying "I told you" in a few days, but its worth a try and you never know I maybe pleasantly surprised, but something saying I wont be.

Been researching air con units and they dont sound all that great either, yeah they cool the room down loads better then air coolers, but....... they use loads of power, (as bad as a fan heater), noisey, and you have to have a huge tube hanging out of the window... So a air con unit is deff not for me,, I'll just have to carry on sweating it out during hot days if the air cooler dont work.

Also I dont know if this applies to all air coolers with ice packs, but if you use the ice packs on there own without water you put no humidity in the air?

LOL, I just entered this thread to move it to overclocking and cooling but then realised its not a CPU cooler question.

Well Ive had it for a few weeks and its rubbish, just like BigDannyO said it would be, the temp just carries on increasing. So Im gonna ebay it for half the price.

At the moment the time is 23:53 the temp in my room is a mad 29c and the outside temp is 17c. In my room the temp has been steadily increasing through the night, when it should be decreasing:eek::mad:
