Canon EF 70-200 F4L new or s/h?

Never look at prices for something you have just bought! In the main it will only depress you, just enjoy what you have :)

I recently missed out on a Sigma 300mm f4 APO for £210 and also a Sigma 300mm f2.8 APO EX HSM (with a 1D and Sigma x2 TC) for £999... (could've sold the camera and TC making the lens nice and cheap!). Doh!

I saw that one Rojin - it was on the fleabay wasn't it? Nobody snapped it up for ages but I didn't have the funds ready!

Why where you looking at the 300 f/4 - it doesn't AF does it one digital bodies does it? I'm sure it's a decent lens though.

(BTW dude theres a 300mm f/2.8 on aperture UK ATM thats REALLY beat-up but it's IS and its £2k - might be worth a look if you haven't got your 300 yet - (I need to upgrade my f/2.8 in the near future to something that takes a 2x TC better (probably going canon non-IS)...)

Yeah that was the one, I'm always on the look out for a bargain 300mm f2.8 that's how I come across the f4. I though the older ones didn't AF but the newer did, (this was being used on a 30D and 5DmkII) I wasn't aware of a 1D issue?

Yeah I've seen that one I think :)

I'll probably regret selling it but seems daft having a 70-200 and a 120-400, but i'm wanting to get more into birding and the 70-200 doesnt really cut it. The colours and bokeh are really nice from the 70-200 though.

till I get a camera bag that can hold the lenses I have(kit lens, canon ef-s 10-22 and canon ef 70-200 f4l so far), I'm going to have to use the pouch for the 70-200 or canon 10-22(dependent on which one I'm not using at the time) so they get damaged. my current camera bag can't hold the 300d with the 70-200 attached, it's ok with the kit lens or the 10-22 attached.

looking for a bag that can hold the 300d with battery grip(tho looking to upgrade in the future, xxd series or if the price has reduced the 7d), 18-55(till I get a better quality replacement for it, seen the 24-105 f4l for £664 but can't really afford it right now), 70-200 f4l, 10-22, speedlite 430ex. looking at getting a macro lens, the 50 f1.8 and maybe something like the 100-400(tho that at the moment is just a for the wish list but not currently feasable).

sods law always comes to haunt me, mpb now have a 70-200 f4l with the hood and a uv filter for £404(~£413 in delivery) :(

similar thing happened last year when I got the 10-22 for £410(minus the box or manual as the seller had got them out the attic), couple days later I saw a s/h 10-22 in my local london camera exchange for £400(think it was £400, might have been £410. tho a short while later I saw a s/h 10-22 for closer to £500, not sure if it was the sameone) and it included 6months warranty(thing the guy in the shop said it came with the box).

Just wrap em in a jumper, it's what I do a lot of the time. Just as much protection as a proper bag. :)

Could have waited a couple of weeks, I need to decide whether to sell my 300 f/4 before I have the money to get one or I would have had a punt at yours!:p

little too expensive for me :)

I've been looking at the kata dr-467i and tamarc aero 80, any other suggestions? someone on another forum suggested the lowepro flipside 200.

managed to get photos of a bird(think it's a starling(sp?)) set on my neighbours house a little earlier, took photos of a couple of birds in flight as well but not enough zoom to get good photos. will post them up once I've uploaded them to photobox.
