Rumour from a few friends in the city is that Germany have started to reprint the Deutsche Mark... Afraid I have no official source to this story at all. What with all the recent turmoil in Greece and the market trouble reacting to the instability of the Euro, it appears the Germans may be on the cusp of leaving.

If this is true, then it is the death-knell of the Eurozone and the poorer (ie everyone other than France and Germany) nations within it.

Even if this is just rumour it could have a serious impact on the stability of the Euro on the moneymarkets if it is picked up on the tickers.

To be honest, I can't blame Germany if they are really considering abandoning the Euro. There comes a point where realism has to kick in and you have to make a decision whether ideology or self-preservation is more important.

The euro was an interesting idea, but it never had the required setup to be successful.

I'm not surprised, most Germans I deal with resent the Euro, I wonder what will happen if Germany do leave... collapse of the Euro?

its a good idea in one way but not in the other

I m guessing that in the EU and the "euro zone" all the countries are like helping each other in ecom so if one gets weak the others gets dragged as well. thats what I don't like about it..

Germany benefits from the euro , afterall its the DM with another name. Germany won't be the first to leave , we will be and I can't wait tbd

Not at the moment, at the moment the fiscal incompetence of other countries involved in the Euro is costing Germany a fortune...

The euro has been abused by those countries that see it as a free lunch. The MEPs have also made europe a gravy train. You hear of the separate governments making big cuts but there's not hint of cuts within the euro governing bodies..

Good riddance!!

Its about time they got shot of it, and we stopped supporting the failing currency of which we arent even part!!
