Dark grey suit...what colour shirt?

Looking for some ideas about what to wear with my dark grey suit. It doesn't have a pattern but simple dark grey.

^ Colour next to the black, so quite dark.

I want to wear something a bit different and i was pondering a pale yellow colour but what would that be paired with? My first thought was a dark red or perhaps a black...but black would turn me a bit "bumblebee". :o

So, can someone point me in the right direction? If all else fails, i'll stick to the white shirt and black tie combo.
 
plenty will go with a charcoal suit, what about a more creamy colour rather than yellow?

EDIT: ah... its for a ball. Have they specified black tie? You'll probably find a lot of people go in that, even if it just says formal on invites. Get a dress shirt + proper bow tie if you fancy that... and borrow a tux;)

Pale blue, or a bold purple if you have the personality to carry it off.

Though, if it's for a ball you want to keep it formal so blue or white would be best. Or a proper dress shirt.

Though you really want a kilt for a ball.

Brown shoes too, match the belt and the shoe colour.
 
White shirt would look good.

and what's with everyone saying about brown shoes :confused: that would look horrible lol

I am yet to meet a girl who thinks brown shoes look good :p you should wear black shoes.

I shall be sticking to the black shoes i already own - saves money! :p

As it is my third AND final year...i'm tempted to be a bit more bold. Some prefer to play it safe but as long as it's smart, all is okay. Thanks for the suggestions so far.
 
I'd go for a white shirt. Will give you a very crisp and slik look with a grey suit.

Yellow with grey doesn't really go. Colours like yellow and pink went out of fashion in the suit world many years ago! Not a cool look anymore.
 
With grey suits I wear white, pale blue and pink shirts. I wouldn't go with black.
