I fancy going camping with some mates this summer as I'm going Reading festival so going to have camping stuff so might as well use it. I assume OcUK has a relatively young userbase so looking for sort of non-family based ones? Primarily looking at beach side resorts i.e. Cambersands, Clacton but google seems tricky in finding much about camp sites.

Relatively low budget but it seems tent camping is pretty cheap (cant quite tell most places you need to email for quotes) per night. Not too fussed on nightlife really be nice to have a few pubs probably.

So do you guys have any recommendations on places we can go for a few days?

Cheers!

sorry, can't answer directly but have found this site quite usefull in the past.

suspect you might find many places are a little biased towards families, in some cases actively biased against the youth market, but that's not the case everywhere.

One of the best things I've done is go on a canoeing trip down the thames. Started at cricklade and finished at marlow, taking about 6 days. (100 or so miles).

It's cheap, you can camp on the tow path or in woods alongside, there are pubs along the river on the way and lots of towns you go through. We spent the first night in a campsite, then realised that was just throwing money away so spent the rest of the time in random remote fields, towpaths, exploring in woods etc.

My mate had a canadian canoe but you can prob buy one off ebay and then sell it on. Don't know about renting but I'm sure thats an option too. Seriously kicks the **** out of a campsite!

Wow looks awesome :)

Might have to give that a go, was it just public fields you were staying on? (Idea of a farmer shooting us in our sleep)

Cheers the the website I'll look into that more, did see it before on google but yeah does seem slightly family based more than youth.

I live 10 miles away and that's about as close as I'd want to get. It's full of old people and chavs.

Get yourself down to the northern Cornwall coast.

As Stupot suggested; Canoeing + Camping = Win. Seriously give this a consideration. The river Stour is a good one, with a couple of campsites on the riverside. It'll take you 2 days to canoe to the sea from Sudbury.
