If you think there's much of a chance you'll go over on more than one occasion, then yes you probably should, and get something with T-Mobile, then you get 3GB across the board.

Not sure if you can get a Legend via them though, get a Desire instead :p

Well i was going to go with T-Mobile but i didnt really want the G2 (Hero) and i dont really like the other options i had Touch 2 and Samsung Portal....Nah cant afford the Desire :/
So how do i go about doing it? Go in store and tell them i want to cancel my contract on the basis that the rules for internet usage has changed? Can anyone give me any help in what to say lol (Im 16 no experience in this lol) thanks
Will i get to keep the Legend? i could just get a sim only that way.

I'm surprised that they told you there's no cooling off period, that sounds suss to me.
Was it Phones4U by any chance, they're well known for spouting as much rubbish as possible to get you to sign on the dotted line?

I'd ring the customer services of whatever company it was and ask them about it, ignore what you were told in the shop by the guy who was probably on commission.

Well as you would be trying to cancel it inside of your cooling off period if you have one, you'd have to return everything.

If you don't do that and keep the Legend longer, you'll have to wait and see how things develop.

In a nutshell at the moment, Vodafone are basically ignoring people who are requesting to cancel, giving them automated replies in response.

They think they can simply ignore everyone because they have themselves convinced (or so we are lead to believe), that they aren't changing or charging anything extra.

It's all a bit of a grey area at the moment, but if you fancy some "light" reading, read through these threads -

At the moment you certainly won't be able to cancel.
Main reasons being - firstly there has been no announcement from Vodafone.
Announcements in their forums simply do not count - they have to make all customers aware and cannot assume everyone reads the forums.

You will be extremely hard pushed to get a cancellation from Vodafone at the moment.

As for cooling-off periods.
Most of the carriers offer a cooling-off period.
However remember it is down to the individual carrier and they do NOT have to offer any cooling-off period on contracts signed in store.

Hmm welll it was direct from Vodafone store....Well today i didnt use my phone at all as my battery was 20% so i didnt really get chance to use it but tomorrow i will use it as much as possible and just see how much i can use....as its only going to be facebook/ebay/email as i download all apps/games etc at home....If i do manage to go over i will pop in my vodafone store and say ??? (gotta think of something too say lol)

There is no cooling off period from Vodafone stores. All they will offer is an exchange to another model of the same device if yours is faulty.

Finally got a reply

Hi,

I sincerely apologise for all the inconvenience caused. I can only imagine how frustrating this would have been for you. I would also feel the same, if I were you.

I'd like to inform you that with the fair usage policy we provide 500 MB of data usage.

There is no change in usage policy, we are informing our customers that if they exceeds the usage more than 500 MB so we contact them with the available options as we are monitoring our customers data usage.

Trust the above information helps.

Kind regards,
Vishal Mewada

Getting somewhere.
Certain Vodafone handsets can now have a 1GB data allowance if you preserve your current contract price & length.
Handsets included can be found in a post from Vodafone here:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/5...e-be-enough-for-internet-usage/page__st__1980

For me this is now the end of the argument.
I asked Vodafone if they would be willing to give me a 1GB limit when this whole FUP issue came up.
They didn't reply, however I have now got what I wanted....well as soon as I find out how to get myself upgraded.

1GB they say?

Well that's me happy. Seems some Magic owners aren't though :p

*updates 3G Watchdog with new FUP*

As a Magic owner this doesn't exactly change much,

So, my plan is to use up my 500Mb allowance until I get the notification which will be telling me of a 'new' charge in my T&C's (seeing as there isn't one for data usage above the FUP at present), which means due to my last month's bill being >600Mb of data I should be able to cancel nice and easy, my first and last foray into the world of Vodafone :p

Do you really think it is going to be that easy?
Vodafone are using very careful words.
Basically those that think they can cancel are going to end up in a stalemate with Vodafone.
They will say there are no changes to the T&C's - that all they are doing is enforcing a policy already agreed to.
You will disagree.
You could cancel your DD - but Vodafone will sell your debt on.
You could try court - but if you lose you'll be paying Vodafone's lawyers as well as your own.
