Supermarket fuel price war

I'm so bloody miffed - just picked up the missus from tesco, who did a big shop so I could get the 5p off petrol for spending over £50, only to be told she didn't get one as the offer ended the 23rd

Just chucked in £63 of SU at 124.9ppl with no 5p off offer :(

Just did a quick scan for you:

There are 14 stations selling Super Unleaded within 10 miles of MALVERN. Here are the 10 cheapest:
Name City Distance Price Last Update
Tesco Worcester 1 Worcester 6.46 miles 124.9p 27-05-2010
Tesco Worcester 2 Worcester 8.95 miles 125p 27-05-2010
Park Elbury Park Service Station Worcester 8.46 miles 127.9p 23-05-2010
Sunnylodge Service Station Malvern 1.76 miles 128.9p 27-05-2010
Mpk Worcester Service Station Worcester 6.11 miles 128.9p 24-05-2010
Northwick Service Station Worcester 7.2 miles 128.9p 26-05-2010
Malvern Springs Service Station Malvern 1.59 miles 129.9p 27-05-2010
Powick Service Station Worcester 3.89 miles 129.9p 25-05-2010
Clerkenleap Service Station Worcester 5.49 miles 130.9p 27-05-2010
Mrh Castle Worcester 6.61 miles 131.9p 27-05-2010
Only problem is that involves driving into worcester and back which is not necessarily as easy/quick as the mileage would suggest. It's at least a 13 mile round trip which is 3/4 gallon of petrol for me driving round town! It would actually cost me more than filling up at Texaco in Malvern (50 yards from my house!) The only other garage selling SUL in Malvern is BP and unfortunately BP Ultimate has a habit of causing Impreza engines to blow up!

The price of fuel in Malvern is always stupid. I am there a lot as my girlfriend lives there and I make a point of never filling up there.
It's rubbish, I've been told it's because Malvern is on the 'end of the run' as far as fuel deliveries go, I personally believe they're just taking advantage of people living in a small, semi-rural town. A few miles down the road to Upton-Upon-Severn and you pay another 5-8p a litre!!!:(

I honestly dont know why anyone would buy fuel in Upton. There are two utterly random weird-name petrol stations right next to each other selling fuel at 12p a litre more than everywhere else in the country.

The mind really does boggle. Why bother filling up there

I always brim the tank leaving Plymouth and try not to fill again until I get here, sadly I've got 550 miles to cover this weekend which I can't do using only one tank of fuel (I'd just make it if London and Birmingham were not both on the destination list...).

I hope I don't need to fill up in Malvern :p

Even Tesco in Worcester is not exactly cheap!

That offer didn't seem to last more than a couple of weeks, fortunately I still had a voucher and managed to get it at 111.9, i think it was about £3 saving as I brimmed it.

A slight change of route home from work results in me passing an ASDA petrol station...

I'm confused how a Texaco only 1-2 minutes away is still selling at 120 thought :/

Worcester is an odd place for fuel prices,in the 6 years ive worked there its consistently been dear, esp the big Tesco,Redditch was the same aswell. I live in Dudley, which is about 25 miles away and thats aways a fair few pence cheaper.

Morrisons in Leighton Buzzard is at 115.9, though it has caused Shell to drop their petrol to 117.9.

You guys always seem to get fuel a lot cheaper than us, even the average bp/shell/texaco etc your way is cheaper than the supermarkets here. I guess it's mainly down to the fact that you live in a densely populated urban area and we're a bit more rural meaning big companies can take the **** out of us by charging more!!!!!
