Test Drive: Epic Old Merc'ness!

Very nice! How have they managed to hold there value so well?

I'd like a 500 SEC in a few years as a second car to whatever I have at the time. Though as I'm 18, it's something I can't even begin to contemplate insuring.

W124's especially the convertibles hold there value so well. And the Estates are pure awesome tanks.

This gives me hope that mine might be worth more than 20p one day as one day an enthusiast might appreciate an immaculate example :p

Actually wait, I better stop deluding myself.

Chatted to the bloke today, he has some nice old Mercs there, when they made them right not the modern plastic fantastics.

W123 my dad had 2 in red which were estates. W124's Merc got them right, build and quality wise. We had 2 of those aswell both estates. Best Mercs tbh.

Very nice, E500's are pretty rare, not to be confused with the much inferior (and half the cost new) 500E

also love the SL60 they've got, that's even rarer!

That looks pretty epic! Not a great fan of the EVO II's on it though. Needs some of the amg Hammer wheels.

Currently reacquainting myself with an old school merc of my own :D finally got it back on the road whoop whoop!!

Compared to this, most certainly aren't as pretty any more.
Stop putting words in my mouth though, I never said ugly, just that this one is very pretty and better looking than cars today.

I love 124 saloons and coupes. The 500 is really special!! I have been very tempted on more than one occasion to sell my 330CI and replace it with a mint E320CE!Honestly, I owned a fairly rough one a few years back for a short while and loved it. So much better built than the W202 C36 I owned. A nice 124 is timeless IMO.

Let us know what you think of it! I think I would rather take the SL60 he has for sale though:D

Well, if one day it does only end up worth about 20p, give me a call. I'll gladly have it. :p

But knowing you, it'll sit on your drive/in your garage moulding away like a forgotten toy, ala your Mondeo. :(

That E500 is very nice.

There was one of these old E500 for sale for quite a while at the start of the year, I actually thought about buying it, seriously, but it was nearly twice the price of my 540i and I like the BMW better to be honest. Great cars and very rare in this country, since the E500 wasn't sold here officially.

Oh I think that might be the same one actually :o ...it was Avantgarde selling the one I was looking at. If it is the same one, I'd be more than careful, this was before I bought my 540i that I was looking at it online ... so late Jan early Feb.
