Did anybody watch Have I Got News for You with Bruce Forsyth last night?

IH is consistently rude to his own team-mates, never mind the hosts.

I swear he hates the show he's on, it's beneath him, but he can't give up the money, which makes him hate himself. vicious circle! stumpy little toad.

quick edit: didn't brucie do well? for a guy of 80-whatever!

Agreed Hislopis starting to annoy me on the show now.

And I didn't realise Bruce Forsyth is 82!!! That's crazy, he doesn't look or act that old at all.

I think it was an act from Hislop. If he wasn't rude then it wouldn't be funny - I don't think there's any genuine malice in it. Brucie was good, but it seemed most of the jokes were recycled from last time he was on. (Like the one about Ian's TV not picking up ITV).

I'm not so sure. There have been past HIGNFYs where Ian's put on that aloof, beneath-him, disdainful air but he's not been able to carry it through an entire episode.

Admittedly, we're only seeing an edit, but I got the distinct impression that he was genuinely peed off with either Brucey, the 'lowest-common-denominator game show' format slant, or something else. He was snarky and confrontational in a way that he normally reserves for particularly odious and hypocritical MPs.

But yeah - Merton and Noble were on good form. And you can't deny that Brucey is a startling octogenarian.

And if you flicked over to C4 a bit later to watch Charlie Brooker's You Have Been Watching, you'd have seen a treat. The section with Mr Fuggles the puppet was priceless :D

Got this one Sky +'d and I've not seen it yet. I'm really not a fan of Bruce Forsyth but as I've watched pretty much every other episode of this programme I suppose I'll carry on with this one.

Slightly off topic buy (in my opinion) the best ever guest presenter has to be Brian Blessed, had me in stitches of laughter from start to finish :D

IH is superb. The show wouldn't be the same without him. And if he was a bit annoyed with the fake gameshow format then I can't really blame him: it wasn't all that funny.

Ross Noble was a fantastic panelist, they should get him on more often.

Ross Noble would be great on QI, just imagine where his weird tangents would take them :D

edit: Forsyth's looking amazing for 82!

nobles getting fat though :p

Great episode, I think Bruce doing his thing is something to expect when you have different hosts each week, it keeps it entertaining.

Anyway, meh, Noble wasn't that funny, Brucie was on and off, Hislop was in a bad mood and not particularly funny and Merton was pretty quiet. Not a great show, not terrible, the "Hislop disdane for presenter of the week" act has been boring for, what, 5 years.

I'd say Brucie is looking so well/fit because frankly, he hasn't stopped working, most people retire by 65 and really stop doing much of anything, get unfit and put on weight. Actors/tv people, its not boring work like office work, its very well paid, its not hard labour, it brings with it the fame/lifestyle/showbiz events, no real reason to retire.

Clint Eastwood is the same, 80 in 2 days, and active as ever, directing, starring in films with a bit of action thrown in for good measure.

i prefer brucies first effort tbh ... it was awesome ... this one same abit lame .. play your iraqi cards right was awesome imo

Wish they had just got a permanant replacement host after Deyton left. It's just not the same with a different z-lister every week.

Haha.

Even though you can't really describe Bruce as a z-lister, I know what you mean, Angus was prefect for the show. I miss him as a presenter back then: the overall combination, in all its incarnations, was prefect.

Noble is awesome, was funny on Jonathan Ross too (apart from the cringe-worthy fight).

Really like IH as well in a sort of David Mitchell 'we all know i'm much cleverer than you' kind of way.

Brucey was just really cringe IMO. Also the woman was erm... well just not funny really.

Are there any funny women on tv?
