Ah the 470 delivery has arrived then - a busy day ahead for you me thinks :D
Im expecting Jensen to send you a letter soon thanking you and Mr Halz for the record jump in Nvidia profits this year, ATI are really missing the boat on this one..
Good luck with everything, wouldn't take too long getting them set up as it is a bank holiday weekend and something will go wrong with Berkeley at some point over the next 3 days and you will be stuck with no work..
 
Morning Edge, unfortunately house guests are about to descend on me so i cant do anything with em yet, hopefully tommorrow.
Still cant believe after all the fussing about it was as simple as just dropping Todds files in data folder, applying the same principles along with rescheduler is helping ppd no end.
I bet you've got a chair parked by the front door ready for tuesday :D

My rig is at work so I will definately be going in early :p
Only problem is that if the delivery is mid morning or lunchtime, by the time I install the thing, it could be the weekly maintenance slot and I won't be able to get work!
Are you running win7 with the 470's? Do you have to use dummy vga plugs on the 2nd dvi socket?

I will be running w7 64 bit yes, will have the dummy plugs ready which loudbob helped me out with i know they are needed for w7. Am looking forward to putting w7 on things are a darn sight faster to work with, having said that other gpu's on xp seem to fair better than w7 so am wondering now :confused:
 
from what i understand, for best performance:

gtx 2** series win xp - no need for dummies
gtx 4** series win 7 64 - requires dummy plugs

currently i think the rigs working xp & 295s appear to have the edge on 470s & win7 and may well continue todo so for some time. but as mentioned many times before its old hat now. gtx 4** cards are the way forward, unless ati come into play.

im just hovering to wait & see before going to gtx 470s, as the price for a new 470 is only the same as a second 295 give or take a few quid. and im already on win 7 64.
 
Ta for that wayne wasn't 100% sure but yeah 295's probably will have the upperhand till fermi optimised apps roll out, have a good weekend sah i am stuck with 3 adult and a screaming 5 year old for house guests. Thought it was only for one night they wanna stop till tuesday now grrrrrrrr :mad::mad::mad:

You do know that if those 470's had not arrived, they would just had popped in for a flying visit and gone home :p
Bad luck mate, forget about it, have a good weekend, seti will still be there on Tue. After the week you have had, a couple of days of not ripping the guts out of all your PC's is probably a good thing...

:D Evening Edge
Well its all very civil in the TBag household this evening, yeah funny old week but all for the greater good. Apart from the headaches i learnt a lot and to me that was priceless.
Houseguests or not i'm going at it hammer n tongs tommorrow eve, i just don't want to start another week with a lot of loose ends added to a convenient family emergency early monday morning that should leave the day free to relax. Yeah i know its a rotten trick but funny how friends can turn 1 night into 3 sod em i've done my bit lol :D

Its not a rotten trick, 1 day to yourself out of 3 is only fair, especially considering you have a box of new kit lying untouched, that would be driving me insane :eek:

On a seperate note, what value resistors are people using for the dummy plugs?
