The wife has recently taken delivery of a Desire as her first smart phone.

We are having a couple of issues. She was chatting to a friend all morning via sms, however, when she tried to call her it said number not recognised.

It appears that it is using her facebook phone number that starts 44 (not +44) as her friend has it stored it incorrectly.

We've gone in and put the correct mobile number in but it's still having issues and showing the facebook number. Is there anyway to override the facebook number?

Can't say I've had this problem... Can you not just press "Phone" then the icon on the right-hand side, which should take you to "Call history". Then scroll left through the icons to "All" (you'll have icons like, "Online Directory" and "Groups"). Tap the person you want, it will bring up their details on screen, and at the bottom of the screen is "Edit Contact". Does that work?

Cheers.

It hasn't resynced the incorrect number from Facebook has it?

i have this, is right pain.

all i want is the fb contact info, not the phone number WHICH I CANNOT EDIT :/

cannot seem to get them to vanish from the 'phone' menu :/

She's tried everything, even phoning them from text messages she received an hour before she tried to call them. If you go into edit contact the number is correct, but even after pressing save it still shows the facebook one.

Looks like it might be, can you turn off the sync for facebook? She has been playing with the phone non stop now for 2 days, I managed to nick it to install voice to text but that was it.

When mine arrives I don't think I will be syncing with facebook.

You can un-link a Contact from their Facebook profile if that will help...?

Go into the Contact and press "Link" / "Linked" in the top-right corner, you can then just press the green line (chain icon) where it says "Joe Bloggs - Facebook" and it should go to an un-linked icon.

Does that work?

Cheers.

EDIT: I see what you mean though, what if you want to link a contact but not have their Facebook info override the Phone info....

You can turn off syncing facebook contacts in the facebook entry under the accounts section of settings.

This is a huge problem at the moment and it's bloody annoying.

There's no direct way to get around this, other than to unsync contacts, which makes you lose all of the information on them.

Unlinking doesn't do anything much good once it's got the number stored as it loads them seperately for the phone book.

The new Firmware update going around (just Vodafone so far I think) apparently applies some Facebook fixes, so let's hope that is one of them :)

i hope it does fix them, its a bit of a weird request to ask someone to change thier number..

ive even got a fair few with fake numbers!! just dont put one on at all!!

moreover.. why cant you just delete these?? seems a big oversight to me!

Well, as far as I'm aware you can enter the persons number, and it displays it alongside the Facebook one, it's just a pain having to check which one you select.

I might be wrong there, I've got it disabled at the moment so cant check :p

i know the ones with 44 [like the op said] cant be replaced by adding the + and saving in another space, it must just think its the same number! annoying to say the least, the fb-android integration on the desire is its worst trait!

also i dont know why you cant go to a persons fb page straight from friends stream :/

You can tell it which is the default number it dials.

What I find anoying is if someone has "Ask me" as their contact details then network texts or ones from a name/title rather than a number appear as being from that contact. Basically all my T-Mobile texts appear like they are from a Facebook friend, hope they fix it soon!

I haven't had chance to try the new update as there isn't a stock one released yet and there's no way in hell I'm putting Vodafail stuff on my phone just to fix that :D

Will be using Froyo soon anyway, just waiting for them to get the Bluetooth working and stabilise any memory leaks!

cant remove a contact from appearin in 'phone' but i can get them to show only the correct number and no other regardless as to whether they have an incorrect fb number or not

dont know is this is of use to anyone else
