Hey Guys,

Syke and I met up today at Waterloo station "at the top of the stairs" :p - The whole point of today was to get some street candid and some '5 second stranger' shots IE "Excuse me, can I take your photo? it'll only take 5 seconds"

We basically did a similar route to the London meet but instead of gassing, we actually took some pics :p

Got loads more to add but I'm going out in a bit, and was going through and spotted this.

(Here it is in B&W if you like - http://www.je-design.co.uk/public/win_s.jpg[/img]

Taken with Dans 85mm 1.8 - Deffo my next lens, sod the mid-range. This lens is awesome and I'll be sad to send it back :(

Anyway, Syke and I will be adding photos to this thread as/when they are processed and theres one to start us off. We also went to Trafalgar square, regent street (not just to see the iPad I swear!) and Camden too!

Got lots of skater stuff that I was happy with too, again will add these later.

Enjoy :)

Jake

Went for more candids today, definitely gonna go back when its more sunny to get more shots similar to the above. Was quite liking square crops today so;

Problem with this one, he moved around/forward as I took it - so it focused on his nose, and was overall a bit bland. Lesson learned for next time though!

Of course we had to stop and have a drink (for those that went to the meet!);

Problem today was dull/crappy weather, and miserable people when asking to take their photo, lol. Hopefully next time in more sun they'll be more responsive. Happy with some candids for today, found some sort of route for the next time, but the aim will be definitely more headshot portraits. But happy overall.

Sorry if I come across too harsh on you guys but judging by the photos it is very poor effort in capturing everyday life in the capital.

The photos just look like it could have been taken anywhere in England.

If you take candid shots in popular location such as Trafalgar you have to capture what people actually do. Just top of my head tourist taking photos, kids climbing the lion, people sitting around the fountain and so on.

Again sorry but for your next journey to London this is something to think about.

I wasn't going to capture the life of the capital. I went purely for some candid shots - the reason it was Trafalgar Square was because it is generally busy, and don't have to just wander till we find anyone.

Fair enough if you wanted to see kids climbing on a lion, but I didn't go for that style of photo.

If we hadn't mentioned London, it wouldn't have mattered - that was just purely the location because we both basically live there?

I think it is just a shame to travel all the way to London to capture some random people without capturing it is surrounding, you could have done it locally.

It is fairly local.. it's just the location we decided on. Fair enough on your comment, but candids are candids. It is always going to be random people, regardless of the location.

Hi mate,

Appreciate the comments but in the OP I did say

The whole point of today was to get some street candid and some '5 second stranger' shots IE "Excuse me, can I take your photo? it'll only take 5 seconds

The shot in the OP is exactly that, he was walking by "Hey dude, can I take your photo please?"

Check out Danny Santos, that's what we were going for :)

???

I think they're excellent shots which certainly capture the spirit of london on a dull day. Nice processing too, thanks for sharing.

EDIT: ^^ yeah what you said;)

cracking first shot there Jake (yes I can say something without taking the mick ;))

Liking the low light shots from the pub we went to from the london trip there Skye, pity the guy in the hat leaned forward just as you were about to take that shot though, if its any consolation his nose is fantastically sharp :D

One thing is glad you two girls had a good time and even went for a drink together. Whens the second date :D :p

Yeah the sensible comments didn't last long did they

Cheers for the comments guys and Rojin the lens is awesome, seriously going to miss it when it goes back!!! :)

Deffo my next lens :)

Right, I'm awake, recovered :p, time to process some shots :) watch this space.

liking that 3rd one a lot. Shame there is the couple of mic stands at the left hand side and the light reflecting in the picture in the background.

Didn't realise that the 85 mm 1.8 was so cheap! Cracking value

Ok in the order they were taken, going to be about 30 images in total. Normally I post 'the best' of the lot but I quite like most/all of these so what the hell!

Enjoy!

1. This is PURELY a test shot, and it nearly got us killed. I took it to check exposure without thinking who or what I was taking a picture of and these guys didn't look impressed afterwards!
