3rd rock...
This last Friday I went ravin to an event in Liecester. Had never been there ever. On Thursday night I loaded up Streetview and "drove" around the streets close to the venue to get an idea of things. I did this for about 20mins.

When I actually got there in real life I seriously felt like Id been there before. the streets were spot on - all the shops I saw on SV were right there I recognized all of them. That combined with the GPS unit in the car = absolutely not getting lost and went from my house to the parking lot stress-free.

So ummm...this goes out to the super-nerd Google guys & gals - thanks :) It so totally helped me out I had to broadcast it on a forum :D

I found streetview excellent when I was looking for a house, just looked at them on the agents website then used streetview to get an idea of the street and area

I've used the satellite map view since it came out to help work out where I need to be - because sat navs are useless for the last 100 yards of a journey.

Since streetview came out I've used that and it really does help - especially when you are looking for small un-marked turnings and drive ways, you can line it up with what you see on the over head map and get an idea exactly what to look out for.

Awesome tbh. I wish my sat-nav had it :)

You want to try it with Google Navigation on an N1/Desire/Droid. Great Sat Nav and it integrates with Street View. It's awesome.

Wow that would be awesome!

I forgot to mention that the BirdsEye view on Bing Maps is also awesome and REALLY handy!

I find it handy for when im stalking certain people.
Its much easier to sit at my computer online and scout the area. I can find all possible hiding places, escape routes and entry points.
Since street view has been released i find my work has become increasingly easier and safer (for me at least) no more will i be worried about running in to a dead end or caught by an over looking neighbour.
So thank you google!

I'm a mega fan and from the days of Autoroute up to Street View every one of them have been really useful.
I used to pay £16 a year for Keyhole which then became Google Earth for free.
I used Street View yesterday to guide me to a shop that was in a strange place.
I was talking to the owner and he must have wondered what I was talking about when I was saying 'Are you near a garage? Is there a carpet shop?' and he asked if I was outside somewhere.
I told him I was looking at the shop on the internet but that confused him more.

Yeah it's great for this :D

But ain't it sooo spooky when you arrive in an area you've been browsing but never actually been to and 'feel like you've been here before' :D

Yup... when you reach your destination, it replaces the map with a picture from Streetview so you can pick out the building :D

I've used it several times when I've needed to find shops in London which were in areas I was unfamiliar with. Very useful to know exactly which way to go when leaving the underground stations.

But my best usage of it was in Osaka. There was a shop I wanted to go to and the map on the companies website was poor and only gave me a very rough area to go to (fortunately quite near my hotel). But they did have a picture of the shop on the website. 20mins of wandering around Streetview allowed me to find exactly where the shop was and the landmarks and streets to get to it. Which meant that when I was actually there I could go straight to it without any issues.

It was pretty useful for researching places to go in Tokyo as well.

It is useful, we had an engineer go out to a customer site, his satnav broke and he was completely lost, I managed to talk him through getting there by using google maps street view.

I think my last words to him whilst I was sat at a desk in wales was.

"Right, go down that road, see that Asda's on your right hand side, well look on the opposite side of the street, see that green store, thats the customer"

Was cool :)
