Just spotted this story on the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/10193470.stm

In short, a convertible crashed on the 54 and ended up on it's roof.
I have to say that I presently surprised by the way the windscreen and safety measures stopped the car from flattening itself.
I did try rotating the image, I think it was an E46, but maybe someone can confirm that.

It has to be asked but the M54 is a straight wide and usually quiet motorway. How did he manage to crash, and through the barrier and off a bridge.

Convertibles can be quite reasonable in a rollover, in my MG for example the front windscreen frame is also a roll over bar. The C70 had pop up head rests in seats and a lot of other convertibles have the hoops that can sometimes be fore safety rather than style!

It has to be said perhaps it was a "gentle nudge" from a Polish registered HGV, another car, bike or van, catastrophic suspension / steering failure, driver fell asleep / ran out of talent, speed, drink, drugs...... etc etc etc.

And equally none of the above......

people often assume that due to a road being straight & wide nothing will happen, expect the unexpected, always.

Very lucky - multiple minor injuries from that is amazing.

If that was going to happen to me God forbid, I'd rather be in a tin top regardless!
