Obviously..

I can't wait until one of these threads comes up and gets spammed with the above stuff and then suddenly it's on the news that London has been blown up by aliens :p

Well I can really. That would be bad :(

i don't think it's the case of if they exist that most people don't believe, it's that it's unlikely they're hovering around earth

:rolleyes::rolleyes: See this is exactly what im talking about ! lol, the odds they exist are highly likely, the odds of anyone in this day and age meeting any is highly unlikely, mainly due to:

1) The known age of the universe, and in that time, enough time for something to evolve and become highly advanced

2) The time us humans have existed along with the time we have been a technilogically advanced race (i.e. had the technology that would get us noticed in the universe, radio waves etc)

3) The sheer size of the universe, as far as Im aware the 1st ever signals produced by humans have barely gone 60-80 light years.

Whats scary is, assuming this is true and some people genuinly believe aliens are a load of rubbish, is the sheer ignorance, pompousness and down right 'living in a fish bowl' idea of the universe people have  , I mean given the odds how exactly is it such a huge leap of understanding for people to conclude, hang on a min........yeah they probably do exist........ it baffles me.

These threads are tiresome on OCUK TBH, aliens are HIGHLY likely to exist, odds are over 99.99%, so I struggle to see the constant mocking other than its the 'fasionable' thing to do ?

You don't have to read it and it is the fashionable thing to do. I see your comment has nothing to do with the OP but what do you expect from GD. ;)

I'm not being ignorant at all, and I accept that the probability of other life out there is extremely high. However, when presented with something like that video I linked, how else do you expect us to behave? :p

99.99%? Where does that figure come from? Citation need.

All the alien stories are complete fabrications, there has yet to be any credible evidence that life exists outside planet Earth. Until there is there is, I'm not going to believe any alien story without evidence. What's more likely, it's a rocket booster from a previous mission, which we know happened, or it's some alien craft, when there's no evidence of aliens? Seriously.

So our own booster that's floated off has come back..

Maybe it's come back with a message scribbled on the side?!

Plans on how to build a gateway!

Some of you seem to have done a reading-oopsie and mistaken my thread for an alien thread instead of a Magik spoof thread :p

The new 3 part Stephen Hawkings documentary has made me change my mind a bit about Aliens.
However none are ever likely to come here.

If Hawking wouldn't like to meet Humans if he were an alien then an alien wouldn't either :p

The thread title should have been: Asteroid 2010 KQ: Probably a Rocket Body

:)

But we're now a nation of tabloid 'OMFG ALIENS!!!!!!!' readers that makes these type of titles seem normal.

Not aimed at OP by the way. Though thread title is a bit naughty and misleading

The chance of another life form outside Earth is statistically quite high. However, intelligent life if a lot less likely. Intelligent life than has that technology to travel between stars is ridiculously small.

When we can observe every galaxy (yes, I know how utter insane that sounds) and see to the very edges of our universe, only then we can say this tiny little planet orbiting an averaged size star in an ordinary galaxy alongside BILLIONS of galaxies, only then can we say our God conjured us up alone in 7 days.
