**** off.

They already ruined the story once, leave it alone ffs.

Couldn't agree more, rubber jawed zombies were not part of Matheson's design for starters. Nor were either of those God awful endings.

At the OP he's probably just working double shifts to get to the next "Bridge to total freedom". Scientology ain't cheap yo.

Yep I saw this on Wikipedia the other day...

He has like 8 movies booked in one year - no idea how he'll do it :p
I also thought "wtf" when I saw Independance Day 3 - but I looked further into it and it looks like they are going to film 2 and 3 back to back and release them quite close to each other :)

He seems to have disapeared for a couple of years so presumably he is VERY busy filming. A back to back sequal to Independance day (in 3D of course :p) could be freakin epic :p (Epic win or epic fail mind..)

He's a legend, what can you say. I'm looking forward to a handful of those movies, just for the easy watching. Will Smith has done some good, and some bad films, but he's actually come on a lot as an actor since some of the first films he did. I think he has a good balance of acting ability and not taking it too seriously, if you can even understand what I mean by that.

I, Robot 2?!?

The Revenge of Robbie!
"This time it's digital"

From memory "In Development" can mean films that are still basically on the drawing board, and most of them may never get further than getting a few people together to see if they are interested (IE you might have a film in development, but no funding secured, or funding reliant on getting X actor who might want Y director, who may want Z location and W writer).
It's when it reaches "in production" that they are actually seriously working on it.*
I think James Cameron has had Battle Angel in "in development" for something like 5+ years (ADV films lost the rights to the anime for it in about 03 when they were unable to renew them due to Cameron's option for the film), but has only just moved into "pre-production"**
My understanding is that at any point until it's "in production" it's basically able to be cancelled fairly easily and relatively cheaply.

The only one that he actually seems to be involved in, that is definitely going ahead at the moment is Independence Day 2, which is in "pre production" which means they've actually got at least some of the key staff and funding arranged, but even that can fall apart if say the investors/studio pull out, or they fail to get other key staff etc sorted.

There are a couple of films in the list that I wouldn't mind seeing, but many of the others I couldn't care about, and some I can't imagine being any good.

*Certainly from what I understand you can as a writer have a story "optioned" which might lead to it being classed as "in development" but it be rare to get any further than that (and indeed it's not uncommon for the rights to a story to be tied up in an option on the off chance they can get the cast/crew/director and funding to make it).

**IIRC he optioned it well before starting on Avatar, and I think is quoted as having said that he'd need the advances in tech from Avatar to make it.

Aye, a good chunk of films 'in development' will never materialise. It was very annoying when I thought there was going to be a fourth Jason Bourne film (with Matt Damon).

Agreed. I think IMDB will include any rumoured films on the site so just because they are listed doesn't mean they will actually happen.

They had Johnny Bravo movie on there for years but never happened ;)

Wheres MIB4?
I'm not sure if this is a joke from the independence day 3 thing, but MIB 3 has had the go ahead, someone interesting is going to be in it, can't think who though.

Edit: Ah that's it, Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords
