For me this shot stood out from the crowd because of its use of Bokeh to create the picture over just having it present within the shot, and the moment captured and post processing really does make it a very professional shot.

I really like the winning image - good result :)

Can kind judge email me the images for this round? I'll get the results up as soon as I remember what this 'coding' thing is.
 
Congrats to Mint Sauce. A great image that deserved to win.

Im happy with my result for a first-time entry into a photo comp. Looking forward to the next theme.

The strong lighting gives it a slightly washed-out look that can be quite easily remedied with a few contrast and shadow tweaks in post. Saying that, it's nicely composed and overall it's quite a satisfying image.
This is crying out for some contrast in post.
All this needs is a bit of PP to bring out the detail little tweak with the contrast and its spot on.

Fifth place in a large field. I think I scored better than I deserved.

It's interesting to read the comments. Every one of them says I need more contrast. And I can see that now. What a shame that I took contrast OUT in PP. I boosted "recovery" because I thought I might get slated for burning out the to white. I boosted "fill light" because I thought I might drop points for losing the detail in the black fathers. I should have left it alone!

I also don't like my bokeh. Stopping down to f11 gave me 50p shapes rather than circles - didn't notice when chimping.

Thanks again to the judges. It's great to see the pictures through their eyes.

Congrats mate, kinda disappointed with myself really, thought this'd be something I'd do well at, but ran out of time an didn't have a chance to do it properly. Tis a shame really, but nevermind :)
 
Woah, blown away thanks everyone! I didn't realise I had won so hadn't picked the theme but see Fever has been chosen and is probably better than what I would have come up with anyway.

Feel a bit bad as to be honest I was using camera equipment that would perhaps give me a larger advantage than others to achieve the bokeh effect.

Anyway, thanks again I'll go to bed happy. :D

That was chosen by the winner last month, you need to choose a theme for next months comp :).

Make it something easier plzkfnx :p
 
Very nice photo Mint Sauce congrats.

Thanks for comments on my photo by the judges, was shocked that it scored as well as it did, as it was very boring. Was hoping to get a better photo in before close of play but ran out of time.
 
Congratulations to Mint_Sauce! An excellent image that definitely deserved to win.

@ The other judges & Mint_Sauce ... I still don't have internet after the house move (damn you, BT line) and for some reason, I'm not getting any e-mails through my normal mail account when I can get a connection. Apologies for the absence of responses if you're trying to get in touch, but I see you've sorted the new theme anyway - good choice :)
