Anyone got married in Vegas....?

After having been to vegas, my personal opinion is that I couldn't think of anything more tacky. Vegas is awesome, but for a wedding? Hell no!

What do you want to know, the we got married in Vegas September last year. It wasnt tacky at all, it was just a small chapel with friends and family which was all we wanted.

Had a really good time in Vegas and it was a stepping stone to spend our honeymoon in Kauai (Hawaii).

From reading around it appears as though you have to get a licence.

What's the best way of doing this and can I arrange it from the UK?

Not that I am aware of but that isnt to say you cant. We had to go to the local county clerk office, fill in a form and hand over some dollars and you get the licence. Then you just go to where ever you are going to get married and then hand it in and thats it, you can get married.

edit: As far as I am aware, if you book to get married then it all gets sorted out for you as they drive you to the county clerks offices to sort out your licence anyway.

It will be the most tacky and utterly meaningless wedding ever.

If thats what your relationship means to you, why bother? :p

IMO a wedding is a commitment between you and your partner, the ceremony itself is just a means for that commitment. If some people want to make the ceremony about how much money you can spend or make it more about how many people you can invite then that is their descision.

Personally I think they whole big wedding thing is truely ghastly. Our wedding was about us for us not for everyone else, anyone that mattered insisted on coming :D

Because it doesn't have to be an Elvis themed wedding in a little chapel? :p

You say that now, but wait till you meet the right girl - she will convince you to part with all your money :)

My wedding is costing £16k currently...

I am married and she didnt ;) We have been together for nearly 14 years but married for 9 months.

If I suggested we spent £16k on getting married she would think I was mad. We would rather have paid £10k off the mortgage and spent the £6k on the honeymoon, but everyone has differing opinions or priorities.
