Hey All,

What would you consider a fair price for a C1 Q9550? I might be able to pick one up for about £100, but would it be worth paying more for a G0?

For info I'm currently running an E8600 and the pc is used for mainly gaming (BC2) which does make use of the extra cores from what I've read?.

£100 is a bargain so I'd go for it. You could easily get £100 for your current chip on Ebay so it would end up a very cheap upgrade even if you ended up paying £20-£30 extra for an E0 Q9550.
 
A slight re-phrase of the original question.... Has anyone had any experience of the Q9550 C1 vs the Q9550 G0? Any obvious differences between them in terms of overclocking, heat, performance etc....

If so would you recommend a C1 for about 30% less than the price of a G0?

Ah ofc, I was also looking at the Q6600 :p

Tbh I have never really overclocked much in the past (current rig is @ 3.8 from 3.2) so would only be looking to take it up to the 3.2 / 3.4 mark if possible.
 
I've got one of the C1 versions of the q9550 and I'm running mine no problem at 3.4Ghz, idle temps are around 28 - 32 (antec 1200 case on air) with the load temps around 65 if i remember correctly (pc out of action just now)
 
I've had both C1 and E0 Q9550s, the E0 runs between 15-20C cooler @ 4.0GHz than the C1, also had a Q6600 G0, o/cs generally to about 3.8GHz tops with a decent air-cooler, personally would take a C1 over a G0, but would be worth paying a bit more for an E0...
