Seriously, he said it at East Coast throw down.

He hasn't received any nerfs or buffs, stayed practically the same, and that's his reason.

He's got great pokes, good stamina, his jab spam is gdlk, and overall he's a very solid character.

Personally, i feel Rufus and Guile are slightly better though

Balrog has bad match ups though, Akuma and Rufus pretty much have none...well Akuma doesn't, his worst is 4.5 against Rufus and that's hardly bad. :p

personally i feel abel now has a slight advantage over balrog thanks to his new ultra, although mar whipped my abel's backside with balrog yesterday.

i also think rufus and akuma are still the best characters. rufus's new ultra has helped him so much against the likes of akuma, sagat, and ryu. these are his worst match up in the past and now is even.

as for akuma, everyone else got nurfed but he didnt. so surely he is among the best characters.

i have been trying to get used to abel recently, so i can use him as a second to my chun li and cody.

really i feel i should do well with him because i play a similar style with chun li (burst forward to point blank range with a mix of high/low attacks and tick throws) and he has a high power command throw and more damaging combo, but in reality i am absolutely terrible with him at the moment.

the one thing i am not getting used to is the range on his normals. i cant hit confirm off any of his normals, because there is no range on it. i seem to get out worked on the ground and struggled to get close enough to land anything all the time.

unless i land the forward kick, which doesnt happen often enough, couldnt gain any ground on my opponent. so far i am relying on focus bait and the other guy to make a mistake for me to land a TT and start work from there.

anyone have any tips for poor me?

Firstly, let me apologise for the disgrace of a Balrog i showed you. I honestly don't think i could have played worse!

Your Akuma is really good, once you got the knockdown on sim, the vortex was too much, i really had no wake up options :(

i struggle most with Akuma, Rufus and Viper, characters that can change trajectory and zoom across the screen. So it's good practice with you and Art, i need to learn these matchups.

What did you think about my chun and sim in general, they both need more work as i feel my sim is a little predictable.

I need to play more against you guys. I find playing against good players helps me more than random blokes over live, some of which are actually worse than me. :p

stopping play for a while me thinks, the game does feel a little unbalanced after a month of play id say and gameplay wise its nothing compared to sf3.

might pick it back up in a month or two , or when they finally release the tourny update.

As Kreeeee has said I had a lot of practice against Balrog and Chun for that matter. :p

Was not too sure what to do against Dhalsim but once I got in it was really easy to stay in and abuse his wake up game. :) I think your Sim is pretty solid but you seem to jump back a lot with him, not entirely sure if I can if that was a bad move or good though!

Your Chun seems decent, I have no idea how to play her so I can't give out much advice unfortunately but you got some of her combos down so I'm sure you'll improve swiftly. :)

I love the 3S fans that have the nerve to say SFIV/SSFIV is unbalanced when the only characters in 3S that appear in the top 5 in tourneys are Ken/Yun/Chun.

I prefer this and ST/HDR to 3S massively. I'd actually rather play Tekken than 3S. :p

you forgot makoto!

Nowhere near as much as the other three though :p (shamelessly stolen from the E-Dojo forums)

SOURCE OF INFORMATION
EVO 2003 - Yun v Ken
EVO 2004 - Yun v Ken
EVO 2005 - Chun v Chun
EVO 2006 - Yun v Yun
EVO 2007 - Chun v Gouki? From what I gather at least...might be wrong
EVO 2008 - Chun v Chun? Again hazy results.
EVO 2009 - Chun, Yun

Didn't pay much attention to the SVB results as they seem difficult to get a hold of and I'm told the UK level was way behind both US and Japan but for reference:

Chun = 6 SBO wins, 6 appearances in EVO finals
Yun = 4 wins, 5 appearances in EVO finals
Ken = 4 wins, 2 appearances in EVO finals
Makoto = 4 wins, 0 appearances in EVO finals
Gouki = 1 win, 1 appearance in EVO finals - AGAIN WELL DONE GOUKI

The other FOURTEEN character = zero wins

Oh yeah and as if you didn't know: SBO 2009 SFIV Top 8:

Sagat x 3
Ryu x 2
Viper x 2
Chun x 2
Honda x 1
Dhalsim x 1
Abel x 1
Guile x 1
Rufus x 1
Akuma x 1
Balrog x 1 - boxer friendly
