A local Apple store was burglarized for over 10k of merch.

Huh! Well, someone broke into a PC store and stole some PCs, apparently they got in via a gaping security hole, but they caught lots of viruses off them and died. So there!
The store replenished its stock the next day with just one call to the Chinese sweatshop where the nasty PCs are poorly assembled. Huff, puff, mutter...

err yes, lovely.

I think the point was that it was a reference or, dare I say it, a witty comment on the fact that Apple computers are so expensive that 10K only equates to 2 computers. Some may even call it a joke given life via a fake police report :D.

Thank goodness you took my post seriously :o

Whilst I have never heard it as most accounts I have read about burgalry use burgled, it does seem to be a valid if slightly strange word.

There goes my slightly amusing "Only if your Yosemity Sam." comment :(:D.

It's not just valid, it's correct. Burgle is actually a back-formation from burglar, and the natural verb formation is in fact burglarize :)

10k eh? So they stole a couple of iPhones and a couple of iPads?

That was already the punchline.

Anyway, in real life this would bring a problem.
If I was in a pub and somebody offered me a PC laptop for peanuts there would be a good chance I would take it (yeah flame on) but if I was offered a Mac laptop I'd shrug my shoulders.

How could I not considering the lengths you went to in order to post all that information, otherwise it would just be fairly unrelated....... oh hang on, GD, almost forgot :D.

They must have robbed the same factory that apples uses before they ship them to another chinese factory to whack on an apple logo. :p

is that the same sweatshop with massive suicide rate and the contract which prohibits the families claiming compensation?
